Composite Sherlock Holmes in this thread is Cumberbatch Holmes, Downey, Jr. Holmes, and (because I watched it last night, good movie) Ian McKellen's Mr. Holmes.
In each scenario, Sherlock starts off as each character did, but can then adapt as he sees fit to win against each opponent. He also any outside help or assistance the characters in each film did.
For example, if Holmes was replacing Batman in BvS, he would have access to Batfleck's wealth, gear, and Jeremy Irons Alfred. He could also, in theory, use his abilities to determine Eisenlex was up to no good and stop him before he could enact his plan by going to Metropolis, taking Cavillman out for some coffee, and explaining that there is no reason for the two to fight. However, if Holmes replaced John McClane in Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard, he would start just as John did: no weapons, no outside help, no shoes.
How does he do when put in these characters' shoes?
1. Finds the money in No Country for Old Men, starting the cat-and-mouse chase vs Anton Chigurh. (Replaces Lleweyen Moss)
2. Takes over the case from Molly Solverson in Fargo Season 1 and has to stop Lorne Malvo. (Replaces Molly Solverson)
3. Holmes and composite Martin Freeman Dr. John Watson and Jude Law Dr. John Watson visit the crime scene of the obese man killed in Se7en. (Holmes replaces William Somerset and Watson replaces David Mills)
4. Arrives back in London after stopping Marco Sciarra in Mexico City and now has to uncover the plot of Spectre. (Replaces James Bond)
5. Investigates The Comedian's apartment shortly after he is murdered in Watchmen. Holmes must deduce that Ozymandias murdered The Comedian and stop his plan to kill millions.
