Which means...what exactly? Because despite being a shadow of his former self, Vader still beat several Jedi, dueled evenly with Galen and then bested Starkiller in saber combat. All supposed in this 'shadow of his former self' bit.

I'm not really sure that bit really drags Vader down all that much. Canon Vader hasn't really done much with a saber up till ANH, nothing I can't see his Legends incarnation being unable to do.

He means shadows of their Legends variants. And yes; yes, they are.

Right, but I don't see why this really matters given what we see them do, namely Vader before ANH. If he's able to do all that then what does being a shadow of his former self mean exactly?

Actually no. Ben is < ANH Vader.

During the canon comic of their fight it is revealed that Ben is losing the duel before he dies. This agrees with the script for the Movie which is 99% the same text.

The only disagreeing voice is the now non-canon novelization.

Since Ben is < ANH Vader, Starkiller should best him.

Though I still have hope for Obi ;(

I recall the canon novelizations saying they're equal duelists but Vader's physically stronger and thus winning.

Or that might have been the canon junior novel.

There's also Death Star which has Ben tiring rather than losing to skill. But that's still losing all the same.

Oh I wasn't arguing who had better skill. I assumed this was sabers with Aug, or is it just sabers? But even then Vader has cybernetic strength.

Which in that context, Vader was clearly defeating Obi-Wan in their Sabers + Aug only duel.
