With James Cameron attached to this...T6 might be good, T1 and 2 were the best ones obviously and since he left it's been pretty bad. I liked Deadpool, so Tim Miller being part of it as well is okay with me. Be really cool if T6 is R rated but I doubt it.

I can (reluctantly) live without Arnold in the series, but need to see a casting that'd convince me someone could effectively fill his shoes as the Terminator.

c/p

After the lackluster of Genisys, I'm glad they're not doing a follow-up to that.

Also glad Arnold is out, he's the iconic Terminator and will always be, but he's beyond the role, time for someone else.

But having said that, not sure how they're going to proceed with a reboot, another recap of the first film? Not sure I want that and Terminator is my fav of the series. A film set in the future where machines rule most of the planet? We had that in Salvation.

carthage
Count me in on whatever they do to salvage the franchise. I think Genisys had a lot of flaws (Weak leads, massive continuity issues) , but as a film I still enjoyed it. With Cameron back to helm again whatever they've got planned will be way above the last few films.

Khazra Reborn
I wish Cameron would drop phucking Avatar, he's such a great film maker and the fact that he's decided to dedicate the rest of his career to completely shit franchise makes me cringe.

He's a solid director, but a complete egomanic. Also, I imagine the fact that Avatar made billions is another reason.

His persona doesn't change the quality of his past films. And yes, I'm sure Avatar's financial success has a lot to do with it, but it's still an awful franchise and I wish he'd do something else.

Patient_Leech
On one hand I do admire James Cameron for obvious talent on a technical level and he's great at directing action (the action in Avatar is exquisite). And more importantly I appreciate that he sees film as a very visual medium. His films are visually incredible and Avatar is definitely that, but it's at the expense of a decent story. Avatar is literally a piece of propaganda. It's propaganda that I agree with to a large extent, but it's still propaganda and should be presented in a more nuanced and interesting way.

But guys, I doubt he's going to direct another Terminator film. I can see him producing and maybe even some writing, but I doubt he'd ever direct it.

steverules_2
It says in the OP he's producing so it's obvious he won't be directing this. The reason I think there's hope for T6 is because he's on board so I'm hoping that whilst he's not directing maybe he can help lead the film in the right direction like with T1 and 2.

Avatar wasn't great to be honest, buncha smurfs get their village blown up. But of course cuz it had good 3D it made billions and is still the highest grossing film.

roughrider
I'm really not anxious for more Avatar, honestly.

Most of Cameron's films are sensational events at the time...but a few months or years later, they're not rewatchable. That's my opinion.

Most notable exception to this is Aliens. Possibly because he was playing in a movie universe he didn't create, established by others.

Despite Cameron's best work, I can't say his films have sparked obsessive rewatching for me, like George Lucas did for Star Wars and the Indiana Jones series. Rewatching Star Wars films are in the hundreds of times, for me.

Hard not to give this a thumbs up, Except that T1 and T2 are my favourite films right after the Star Wars franchise.

Indy is also pretty high until of course.

I love The first two Terminator films. They are essential Sci-fi movies. However the rest of the Terminator movies are ****ing awful and borderline B movie material. I don't want to see, Terminator rebooted. However, if Cameron is involved, it'll peak my curiosity, but i wouldn't expect much even considering the quality of his films.

James Cameron and Tim Miller have supposedly have said that this upcoming sequel is the one we should've gotten after T2.

Ridley_Prime
Late to comment, but I still don't really understand the notion that Arnold being back again automatically = bad, especially if we still have Cameron again among other things.

Hard to say when Arnold will actually retire but he's only got like how many years left at his age? If anything let him take his Terminator role with him to the grave before the series moves on without him... Then again, we might get CG of young and/or old Arnold after he's gone which I actually would be against. facepalm

Darth Thor
Because he's holding the franchise back. How many Arnold T-800's are we gonna get before it just gets ridiculous. Then how many Old Arny T-800's?

Arny seems more concerned about his career than about the franchise. He should take a page from Hugh Jackman's book and declare his last one.

Ridley_Prime
Ah. Yeah, I can agree to that at least. He had a proper sendoff in T2 but since the series later still continued because moneyz, give him one more final sendoff in the form of a Logan esque ending film or something to the T-800 (well, a T-1000 now if you count Genysis)...

I don't have a problem with him being back again in hindsight if he's under a better script or Cameron or something, but can agree that he needs to finally go at some point.

Psychotron
Arnold was the only good thing about Genisys, though. Personally, I'd like to see him as an old human soldier in the future war, whose likeness the 101 model is based on. That way you could have Arnold being badass without going through the "T-800 learns what it means to be human" motions again.

Skynet doesn't need a "POV". It is just a machine. It was dumb the way they "Red Queen'ed" It in the last few movies.

I can support new characters, but I hate it when we "Humanize" the machines.

They could make it a comedy and we could follow some goof ball comic relief characters thru Judgement day.

That could be fun... eek!

Thought Genisys at least had an interesting concept of Skynet's attempt of rise to power, with everyone being connected to that Genisys operating system all the time, and then when Genisys would officially launch worldwide, boop... Further explore that sort of territory with the Internet age and Cameron and it would go a long way, yeah.

That was the best and only "best" part of Term:Gyn. Them taking the entire timeline and literally tossing it into a blender. Of course this is more of a enjoyable "WTF" Ride just to see what all they did to it really.

Cameron may have good intentions but there's no mistaking the fact that both Linda & Arnie have age against them considering this version is supposed to connect after T2.

I guess people are getting fed up of being fooled too many times into getting excited.

But big difference is, this one actually has a good Director. Proven himself on Deadpool. And the rights are back with Cameron.
