Remember Gray Man, from Giffen's initial post crisis JLA run?

Who wins?

I'd say Grayman. After all he casually delt with Kent Nelson Fate like nothing

Been a long time since i read that story but GM may have laid a trap for Fate, who he knew would be coming.
I do recall controlling Captain Marvel was enough of a strain on GM for Fate to make a break for it.
Again, been a long time.

That's not quite true. Even then while controlling Marvel, containing Fate he was also resisting the mental attacks of Jonn'. Plus IIRC Grey man was stated to be the "source" of the power for the Lords of order wasn't he??

I mean wasn't that the "reward" that the LOO gave him for impressing them and actually finding them in their realm??

In the ancient times the Lords of Order and Chaos (according to what Nabu told Kent) would appear to man as goods to get power from their worship. Nabu recieved that power from the hero worship of being the respected mage to aid defend the Egyptian kingdom (which meant he could also get worship from those who worshipped all gods both order and chaos). The Grey man in more recent times cultivated the energy of mankinds dreams to replace said worship.

Since everybody dreams he was as powerful as many gods. In fact I vaguely recall him locking up the LOO in their realm (but like you it's been quite some time so Will have to look for some issues to confirm)

Just going by what i recalled/found to corroborate those recollections.
I read this stuff when it came out in the 80s, and am loathe to go that deep into my garage, its scary back there!

Can't find page 3 but here is the synopsis for the issue

I know it's a wiki, but that is how I remember it.

But it appears Fate was never too troubled by him, S I got that wrong.

Gray Man learned a lesson many have before him: Don't you dare f*ck with Dr. Fate.

It's funny how the Lords told Fate maybe he should be the Gray Man, and his reaction was basically "Nooo way! No way! No."

A reward for humans, shit work for a Lord of Order. smile

Dr. Fate prefers to just chill in his tower and wait for the next person who tries to cross him to come along.
