What is SSJ1 good for?

What do you mean? It's a massive boost... It's like saying why use sage mode in Naruto, or Bankai in bleach

It's good for stomping into the ground with your bare hands beings who are casually multi planetary in energy output and DC.

It's gpod for making it really easy to see comic characters kick their ass.

Lifting 40 tons.

It's a great power-up, but sure becomes obsolelte once ASSJ, MSSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJG, SSJGSSJ transformations are discovered.

How does ASSJ render SSJ obsolete? If anything, it's mastering the latter that renders the former obsolete.

SSJ1 is the most efficient super saiyan transformation according to Toriyama.

ASSJ had much greater power, same speed, its only drawback being the ki drain.

Hell 3 was so bad Goku couldn't even really use it without plot till Super.

ever since the frieza saga the SSJ1 isnt good for anything. its good to make your hair blond and get blue eyes, but thats about it.

Agreed. An owning Superman doesn't need a mere SSJ1, he could own with a SSJ God SSJ Kaio-Ken fusion.
