I'm pretty sure Magneto can pull what his daughter, Polaris, did against The Doctor (a being of pure magic created by Doctor Strange and potent enough to fool people into thinking that he was the real deal) i.e. manipulate and contain his magical energies via electro-magnetic fields, - no magic = no powers, should work fine, in theory.
