Well, I think it is quite alright for a person to rethink something they said and then admit they were wrong. That's a good thing. More people should do that.

Edit - On topic, the Dems lost the election because of this bullshit. I said that the GOP would fade away if they lost the 2016 election. They didn't. They bought themselves a bit of time. But the Dems are now starting to make me think they will kill their party if they don't shape up.

It's the way he went about it. He essentially said he is retracting it so it won't hurt his career. It's good he admitted it though.

But on the other hand, we're in an age where rhetoric matters more than ever. High ranking members of the DNC saying Kim is more responsible. It's up there with calling him Hitler, Mussolini, etc.

EDIT: Oh and one more thing, in this era the retractions of comments tend to get way way less exposure than the original comments. This is especially true on twitter. Someone will tweet out something, get thousands of retweets. A few days later they realize they were wrong and tweet the mistake the made. It will get like 100 retweets. There is a disturbing number of times this has happened with major news networks.

Gerrymandering by republicans, an authoritarian racist plurality of citizens, and economic intimidation are not Left Wing creations. Those are the fruits of the American Capitalist Right.

Representative Federal Government is the enemy apparently.

Just to be clear, you know both sides are equally pieces of shit, right? I just wanted to measure your awareness of reality.

This just further exemplifies the notion that the 2020 Democratic primaries could be an absolute blood bath, similar to the the GOP Primary of last year.

But if there's one thing the last couple elections should teach us, it's to not make too many predictions about the presidential election too early. In 2005 no one thought Obama had a real chance at winning the nomination in 2008, let alone the presidency. Same with Trump last year. The way things go in national elections these days can be the total opposite of what was predicted years in advance.

Personally, I don't think Bernie will run. He'll be nearly 80 and that will be very old to start a first term. I'm not sure Harris will run either, from what I hear she's very cautious and would only run if she thought she had a really good chance of winning. I think she will run at some point, but she's young enough to where there's really no rush for her. And who knows, we may not even be talking about these two in 2019. For all we know The Rock and Oprah Winfrey will be the front runners.

Surtur
I think Bernie is done. He won't be president, at best he will serve as an inspiration for the Bernie bros.

BackFire
I think he'll probably kind of play king maker. Whoever he ends up backing will receive a huge boost in support.

I agree, who do you think he'd try to make king though?

Right now it seems the front runners are Biden, Harris, Warren and Franken. Assuming those 4 continue being the front runners, I imagine he'd back Warren as they overlap in a lot of departments.

However if some other person comes out of the woodwork that Bernie likes and shows potential for actually winning, he may back them over any of the others.

The real question would be how early would he throw his support to someone in the primaries? Or would he at all? He may decide to pull a Warren and not really want to openly back anyone in the primary because he knows it could cause further divisions on the left.

Oh god Al Franken? I think the guy is a mess lol. I truly hope he gets put at the bottom of the list. I actually respect Biden a bit.

BackFire
It's still unclear of Franken is actually interested. He's gone back and forth from denying it pretty clearly, to being coy about it. He's in a pretty unique position to run against Trump, though, as a former comedian who gets show business and theatrics but is also a legitimate politician with what will be over a decade of congressional experience.

I just wonder, does Bernie have like...an apprentice? Lol. Like one man he might get behind more than the others? Someone he mentored or something. Like a socialist Yoda.

Lol@Jesse Jackson. You know he gave Trump an award for being a champion of black folk, right?

Can you imagine that being brought up during a debate? Hilarious. I hope it happens. It would be quality entertainment.

I don't think he really does, I could be wrong, though. I would say Warren is the most likely to take up his torch, though someone like Tulsi Gabbard who supported him despite pressure last year could also get his backing if she were to run.

I think Gabbard is probably the closest thing to an apprentice, I think a lot think she'll probably be the next Sanders, though a lot of Democrats have problems with her. But then again, the same was true for Bernie himself.

Would the black vote sway you if Franken added Al Shatpton?

Dude, having Al Sharpton would be horrible. Like, a nuclear attack could be eminent, and then some black dude gets killed by a cop and suddenly Sharpton puts Wally West to shame with the speed in which he arrives in whatever town it happened in.

We had a black leader for 8 years that did jackshit in terms of hope and change.

Why do we need another black leader?

I could say that what we need is one with Ovaries but then that would be Gender Insensitive. Lets just pretend that Obama was in fact a Woman on the inside.

Obama destroyed race relations more then anyone in the past 40 years. Im all for another black president that stops using race as a weapon to divide.

Obama proved the US can rise above the flag of hatred and oppression of blacks, it's why they have him the Nobel peace prize for being a symbol of hope. Have yo read his book Audacity of Hope? It brought me to tears

Lol dude, he dropped 16,000 bombs in one year alone. Can you explain how him getting a nobel peace prize isn't utterly laughable?

Did he bring together the black community? Stop the rampant violence?

You are trolling me right? I mean this isnt a real answer..obama phones?? I knew you were shallow, and uninformed, but i didnt know it was this bad.

Lestov you really going to go along with this?

carthage
So you're going to deny the obvious good that Obama handed down to the black community by giving underprivileged people phones? Wow your heartless, I can post a Buzzfeed list of all the good he's done and you'd deny it

Racism still exists in this country....

Yeah Better they get cheap burn phones over jobs, and better educations and safer neighborhoods. YEAH PHONES!!!!

Obama stole the idea from Ronald Reagan. It wasnt Obamas program or idea. Next.

carthage
It was his program or else they wouldn't be referred to as Obama phones, duhhh. Also wireless calling wasn't as advanced or anywhere near capable of allowing Jamal to call his baby mamma or order more crack from Colombians (they didn't have the reception then) so nice try with the racist attempt at denying Obama his achievement

Clueless democrat drone. I pity you.

Why are you posting the same link? Do you think I can't post on the one you already did, and why did you call me Jamal? Wow thats racist

You said Jamal earlier. Why dont you read and retract your statement?

I dont think you can read, if you did, you would see you were lying.

So again, do you still think Obama came up with the Obama phone?

carthage
You just assumed my name was Jamal because I brought up Obamas achievements. This is a virtual lynching just because you hate Obama phones and his achievements.

He didn't do a very good job of that though, did he? I mean a large portion of them still believe that the system is so stacked against them that they won't be able to amount to anything legitimately. If he actually accomplished what you describe then it seems there'd be far less cries of "systemic racism".
