Maybe its just me. Scratch that, i know it is, but i've never found Kirby's New Gods (or Inhumans, Eternals) interesting, aside from one or two characters.
MM is one of those.
No one's ever written him (aside from his stint in the JLI, and his 80s series which started out great, with action and humor then lost steam) the way -i- want to see him.
You have a guy dressed like a bag of skittles, with a kick ass job, an Amazonian wife, a little person best friend, living in Suburbia.
That doesn't lend itself to dark and broody.
And yet here we are dark and broody.

i check out the first issue of the new series, and find what?
Totally depressing art and color palette, and it starts out with
SPOILER
our hero with his wrists slit.
WTF.
Like i said, not a fan of the New Gods, so a character with a built in excuse to stay away from all that, that keeps going back to it, or getting unnecessary power ups, or being all existential, etc., is missing the mark for me.
