If he wasn't mentally expecting Maul to try something like that, it doesn't matter what he was doing. He didn't expect Vader to throw him down a shaft either while blasting Luke.
So let me understand this, Palpatine was the one with the disadvantage in that scene? Not Maul? Is that your rationale? He couldn't defend himself because he was too busy frying his opponent with lightning?
Let me try that logic: Maul being on the full defensive blocking Palpatine's lightning means he's not focusing on his offensive capabilities. Ergo his feat is even more impressive, since he just casually ragdolled Palpatine with just 1% of his attention, while the other 99% was focused on maintaining his defense.
How do you like them apples?
And nice comparison. Because being blindsided from behind by someone you trust - while you're attacking someone else - is the same as being attacked from the front. By your opponent. In the heat of battle.
Why isn't the 2003 cartoon fair game? You're using a deleted scene
You mean the same series that had characters like Durge? That shit is barely above the lego games.
By all means, cling to that feat if you want. But wake me up when Mace uses the Force in any way against another Force user.
Maul overpowered Kenobi with the Force at least twice, something only Dooku was ever shown to do, and which Anakin failed to do on Mustafar. What has Mace ever done?
Has Mace showed even one single instance of using the Force against another Force user? Even something as simple as a push?
