The Wonder Woman in the scan loses but current Wonder Woman stomps.

bluewaterrider
I don't recognize either version.

Which issue or issues are the scans taken from?

carver9
Sorry, that is current Wonder Woman. Issue number is: WONDER WOMAN #41.

Comic came out Feb 28, this yr. Got that scene mixed up with another comic. Wonder Woman stomps.

1. Not sure what to make of this current state of affairs.
In nearly every era I've seen her written in, Diana on JLA or team books outperforms herself as she is in her solo books; the near reverse of heroes like Superman.

2. Strange to see -- DC apparently still has a fascination with bullets and bracelets. However, it's nearly impossible to say if writers think this is actually a change. Forgotten in the minds of most people, Wonder Woman throughout the vast MAJORITY of her career, has had vulnerability to piercing weapons like arrows, swords, spears, and, yes, ordinance from guns. This seems to be the case even during the time of what is arguably her most impressive fight, the "Sacrifice" battle of Wonder Woman #219, Volume 2, where, according to the writer of that story, Greg Rucka, Diana endures the greatest force a sun-amped murderously enraged Superman can bring to bear against her.

Yet examine how many apparent cuts and scrapes Diana has even from skirmishing with comparatively mundane One Many Army Corps (OMAC) units after that issue:

Annoying as it is to see, then, Wonder Woman's apparent vulnerability, even to ricocheted projectiles from firearms is probably nothing new.

Diana was falling to crap like that even during the eras where she went against opponents some might rank well above Asmodel.

bluewaterrider
I haven't seen much mention of Asmodel in any story that isn't at least a decade old. I'm going to assume he's fairly consistent until shown otherwise.

What was reckoned of Asmodel yesteryear was that his level of physical strength was such that Superman Blue would wrestle him to a standstill:

bluewaterrider
Some might point out that Asmodel took on Jonn J'onnz to say that he was actually above Superman Blue. However, this would be ignoring the extreme duress Jonn had to endure from his Martian vulnerability to heat; a weakness Diana does not share to any comparable degree.

A fight that suggests how much more resistance Diana has to heat than Martian Manhunter.

I was gonna post saying Asmodel would stomp Diana. But then I realized I was confusing Asmodel with Invictus.

What has Asmodel done to make people think he'd beat Diana? She's been on a roll in recent years and DC has been giving her a HUGE push. I can't stand WW but she wins here.

I based this thread on the hell Asmodel raised (no pun intended) in his initial appearance.

Plus, just the touch of Asmodel would burn her:

Something that Bwr conveniently left out. Is it because he didn't know? Then he SHOULD know before commenting.

I think D.S. knows that on some level.
He also seems to reserve this comment exclusively for me, ignoring instances where it would apply to himself or others, even if more strongly.

Fact, 'bout the only thing I wonder is whether what I see from him when he posts to me are his true thoughts on a matter, or if he secretly aims to aid me in the goal of creating better discussion by playing the role of gadfly.

Tools are one thing, but secret allies ...!

Anyway, it doesn't seem to be the case that all contact with Angels/Demons/Heavenly Hosts/objects etcetera burns, though certainly Asmodel and that chariot have the ability to burn.

Were this so, one might expect to see complaints of this in the issue preceding Diana versus Asmodel's chariot, but JLA #6 doesn't seem to make much of that:

I reserve it for you, because you have a distinct patronising tone where you present yourself as knowledgeable on a subject.

When you're not.

And as it's Asmodel who is present here, and we all agree he burns her, your segue of useless scans with WW being able to stand in lava is....well, as usual, useless.

I present and you assume the tone.

Also, we DON'T all agree Asmodel burns Wonder Woman, as it's contact with the chariot that burns her; I'll have to re-examine whether contact with Asmodel himself does the trick against anyone save Mattian Manhunter, whom Asmodel is deliberately trying to exploit the weakness of. Note that Suerman Blue directly grapples with Asmodel. Is there any complaint of burning from him?

Note, finally, that, even where Wonder Woman IS getting burned, she has resistance enough to see her tasks accomplished DESPITE that.
Being uncomfortably hot, does NOT, in and of itself, seem to make Asmodel or his chariot an insurmountable challenge for her.

Well, you can then clarify:

Were you aware of angelic fire and WW before I mentioned it? Your comments as presented make me assume you've no idea.

Well I think it burns. You said it has the ability to burn (should I refresh your memory?) So who is in disagreement?

Superman is an energy absorber. And has manipulated magic before. So his showings vis a vis angelic fire are useless when applied to WW.

There is a difference between being uncomfortably hot and being burnt. You deliberately chose the words 'uncomfortably hot', when we see her exclaiming in pain and admitting she's being burnt...I wonder why?

Could it be your attempt at trying to make WW look good? Despite evidence to the contrary?

1. If aware, I was only dimly aware, and had quite forgotten.
2. Scans following might clarify; burning not enough by itself to get the job done by Asmo.
3. Your speculation on Superman may or may not be correct. Doesn't matter, as Wonder Woman has her own JLA7 performance to rely on.
4. You wonder why I do or say anything, at least based on your writing. I'll wager that's the case for you with a lot of people, or at least I would, IF I actually thought that what I see from you in this forum reflects the you of real life.
As it is, there ISN'T a difference between being "uncomfortably hot" and being "burnt" in what I'M examining or the way I'm using the words.
For there's no lasting damage to Wonder Woman and the pain isn't significant enough to stop her from doing what she needs to do, which is keep that hot chariot from falling to the ground and crushing people.
Examine the scans of this encounter versus the episode where Asmodel fought J'onnz in the disguise of a man-child, however. J'onnz IS stopped there. He DOES suffer significant damage. His life is almost lost and only extensive surgery and aid preserves it.
5. Not particularly interested in making Wonder Woman look good here.
If I honestly thought she looked that bad in this matchup, I wouldn't have bothered to respond to it.

Long walls of text, to essentially be summarised as: you had very little idea of WW and Asmodel, tried to pass off unrelated showings to support your claim, and never said burning alone would get the job done (so a useless point made by you).

Only one "summarizing" like that so far is you, so I'm not too worried.

DarkSaint85
Not sure why you need to be?

Like I've asked before: not being mean, but have you ever been alluded to or flat out diagnosed as being autistic?

bluewaterrider
Gotta hand it to you, I've encountered better on other boards, but, for THIS particular one, I don't think I've encountered anyone more skilled at tongue-in-cheek irony than you:

Exactly. That's why if in fact there IS a diagnosis of you on a spectrum of autism, then I should back off and not take such a harsh tone with you. I feel kinda bad if you're actually slightly autistic or something and here I am having a go at you.

What's your pronoun, blue?

thumb down doesn't matter, you should still feel bad if they're autistic
