What does academic intelligence mean exactly? Level of schooling? IQ? Combo of both? A law professor is going to possess a different type of intelligence than one in physics. Also several of these positions are political and don't necessarily require the brightest in their fields as much as it does good people skills and ties.

Top tier
A.I. Researcher at Google Deepmind (10)
Tenured physics professor at decent state school (10)(assuming UCLA level schools)
Harvard Law Professor (9-10)
Heart surgeon at the Mayo Clinic (9-10)

Near top tier/can be
Partner at Goldman Sachs (8-9)(too much variation; people skills matter more than academic intelligence)
U.S. Federal Appeals Court Judge (8-10)(ditto)

Solidly above average intelligence
CEO at fortune 500 company (7-9)
World champion poker player (7-9)(could be wrong; I know very little about poker)
"Celebrity" trial lawyer (7-9) (basically same conditions as CEO--people skills matter)
