What? He is WAAAAY stronger than Thing. He could literally two shot him if he got mad. He was the Savage Hulk with Fixit's intelligence. The beginning of Merged Hulk. Eventually he got a cap, where if he got too mad, he would revert to Banner, so he had to work hard to keep his anger, and by extension his strength, in check, but he was still more than strong enough to give Superman and Thor a fight for their lives, take on Thor Norvell, rough up Juggernaut, Abomination etc.

Even with the anger cap where he would revert to Banner after getting too angry, he was easily one of the strongest beings around. Superman and Thor (I miss that era) were the only ones on either Earth that could beat him in a direct fight even with the cap imo. Wonder Woman wasn't even in spitting distance, Hercules was mortal, and Captain Marvel was off the grid. Without it? During that era, Hulk was clearly the champion in pure raw strength in comics. That fight from Incredible Hulk #440 against Thor is still one of my favorites ever.

Hate when they put that cap on his strength... that was stupid but I guess they had to tone him down. It was even referenced that this version of Hulk was>Juggernaut and the guy was shrugging off punches from Hercules. That alone is above elite power.
