Do the kids beat the mutant?

They probably would beat him, at least Cloak probably would. His powers somehow reacted to gunfire to get him clear of danger, and in the finale he could extend his shadowy cloak outward to physically affect his surroundings .... and he absorbed that corrupt cop whose name I can't remember
