For instance, if everyone on DC or Marvel Earth banded together with the aim of taking over other planets and/or galactic empires, can they do it?

Some planets that come to mind are:
Rann
Thanagar
Apokolips
Oa
Daxam
Hala and the Kree Empire
Skrullos and the Skrull Empire
The Shi Ar Empire

Well, it's certainly the most EVENTFUL of planets, if nothing else, as everything of galactic import seems to culminate there for obvious reasons. Honestly a story where alien empires decide that earth is more of a liability than it's worth would make sense.

Cassandra Nova alone nearly brought the Shi Ar to their knees. Vulcan ruled them. The Inhumans ruled over the Kree.

Not sure about the DC planets though. Jordan took Oa over, though.

Yes. In Both Universies Earth is the Most Powerful in All Things. It is very Racist Concept.
