Doesn't have to be a true story, but could be.

What I'm looking for is a realistic, grimy, gritty psychological horror along the lines of "Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer", "Se7en" and "The Poughkeepsie Tapes". One that deals with serial/spree killers. And one that doesn't feel TOO polished. It could have some plot holes, or mediocre performances, as long as the atmosphere is exactly how I described.

And, no supernatural Freddy & Jason characters.

F#ck, I keep forgetting to see that. I need to.

I really recommend Prisoners (2013). I thought it was absolutely terrific. From master filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
