Actually we do know this is true because the full transcripts were released. It is not as if the Daily Wire is saying "someone showed us a transcript, trust us". They are going off of things anyone can read. You can argue we don't know why this was done, but it was done.

Speaking of the reason it was done...it is true we do not know why. However, what also cannot be denied is that the edits have the side effect painting a situation that was not nefarious as nefarious.

I have no idea if it is illegal, but it is shady and it does not make the special counsel look neutral.
