Obviously it won't be successful, but it's an...enthusiastic plan nonetheless. /shrug

Why do they keep weaponizing lightsabers like this?...First it's that dumb Jedi blaster, now it's this huge field piece?

Lightsabers shouldn't be used as sources of power for blasters, that's not...that's not what they were made for!

Also that has got to be the dumbest plan ever to try and assassinate Palpatine, even if he didn't sense it, who the hell just waltzes straight into a room filled with supporters that can tackle the would be assassin before he could even get into firing a shot? What a moron.

Galan007
The Rebels realized they couldn't get an assassin close enough to merc Palpatine due to his precog, so their new plan is to use a weapon designed from the stolen Death Star plans, where they could fire a blast at Palpatine from half the galaxy away.

...They evidently do not realize that his senses aren't really limited by range, lol.

Zenwolf
I doubt the gun is gonna work. Even if they get it working, it just seems more trouble than it's worth. They gotta first confirm the guy is even where he's gonna be. Among other issues.

Galan007
Oh the whole plan will fail miserably... Even IF it gets off the ground at all.

Even in canon Palpatine's senses are absurd. This is the guy who was able to detect extremely minor disturbances in the force from across the galaxy -- disturbances so subtle that not even Vader was able to detect them when he was literally sitting right on top of the source.
