Didn't see a thread for this. If there is one, please disregard this.

Anyone planning to see the movie?

Trocity
Definitely watching, big fan of King.

Adam Grimes
I really liked it. Why the phuck is there so little fuss about this movie? The first one was nearly a masterpiece.

StiltmanFTW
Looking forward to it.

Eon Blue
Meh. The first was lackluster.

KMC's been busy with the stupid Josh Wars and the usual Disney/WB bickering.

Surtur
I wasn't aware it had come out yet. I'll probably see it, not sure when.

For those who care Rotten Tomatoes has it at 66% for critics and 82% for audience.

The first movie was 86/84.

BruceSkywalker
will see but not sure when

Well, plenty of sequels ended up worse than that.

I'll give it a chance.

I abandoned the franchise after the cowards didn't adapt the 12 year old gangbang. thumb down

My buddy saw this and said it's faithful to the book, but the scares are lacking and ho-hum.

They could have brought in Roman Polanski to direct the scene, it would have been done quite tastefully.

Yeah I heard the same. Much like the TV original the scares are lacking. I'd still like to see it though.

When I was a little kid the tv movie was f*cking scary.

Well yeah cuz that f*cker kept laughing and doing lame things.

And I highly recommend it. It might lack scares but it's easily far darker than the first one, the adult actors are a lot better than I thought they would be, there's nice character development and the overall quality is quite nice. Only thing I didn't like is that they don't go into too much detail about Pennywise's origin but that's coming from a og book nerd.

The TV series got dusted by these movies.

No need.

Any plans for Chapter Three?

Galan007
Saw this last night.

The runtime was longer than I expected(almost 3 hours.) Several scenes could have been cut down a bit to shorten this up... I know it's a adaption, but this really didn't *need* to be as long as it was, imo(the pacing was a bit muddled, so you definitely knew it was a 3hr movie.) The 'scares' were also meh for the most part. Bill Hader killed it, though. thumb up

Anyway, this was enjoyable overall, but I felt chapter 1 was the superior movie for sure.

How was Jessica Chastains wonderful rack?

Looking forward to watching this. Still cant get over Pennywise looking like he has chronic alcohol fetal syndrome though.

Disagree. I think it should have been *longer*. We barely get to know the adult versions of the Losers before they go back to Derry.

Anyway, it was a good movie. I got mixed feelings about it. Not as good as the first movie, but decent.

Saw this tonight. After really liking the first one, I found this one to be pretty disappointing. Too many jump-scares, not nearly enough tension, and far, far too much comedy.

It was funny when it was trying to be, but it wasn't scary or tense when it was supposed to be.

Well...not quite...but long.

169 mins. So, it is kinda long, yeah.

I never got bored, though.

Jackson's films are in the league of their own, as far as the running time is concerned. Extended RotK = 252 mins.

First one was better.

Some of the gory/horror aspects were better in part 2.

Darth Thor
Enjoyed it. First one was better, and feel like they could have developed the characters more in 3 hours. But still, this was cool.

The original tv series is still far superior though.

Funny though. thumb up

Anyway, got back from seeing this, it was pretty good but not as good as the first. The Bowers subplot should honestly have been cut.

For me, the original is a not-so-great series elevated by Tim Curry being ****ing amazing as Pennywise.

Chapter Two is a movie with an excellent cast bogged down by a poor script.

Khazra Reborn
The acting was good, especially Bill Hader. But everything else did nothing for me, I fell asleep halfway through.

Myth
Chapter 2 was better than the adult half of the mini-series, and Chapter 1 was better than Chapter 2, but I still prefer the original mini-series overall because Tim Curry brought all the charisma to Pennywise. Skarsgard does fine, but I prefer the character to have more humor. He had more humor in part 1, and even that failed to live up to the brilliance of Pennywise. Chapter 2 being nearly as long as the entire oritinal mini-series just is not necessary. Even though they technically improved on the ending, I would have preferred it be a short ending even if it was inferior. I was just ready for the movie to end.

Darth Thor
Its not just Tim Curry.

Chapter 2 had no where near the emotional resonance of the original with Bill needing to go after IT for what happened to his brother.

Neither did James death have the same emotional impact.

But hey it had better action and special effects. So theres that.

NemeBro
Who the phuck is James?

And the adult half of the miniseries had considerably less focus on Bill's relationship with Georgie than even chapter 2 of the film did. The adult half of the miniseries is incredibly weak and corny.

When's the last time you've seen the miniseries?

StiltmanFTW
He probably means James Ransone, who was playing Eddie.

Darth Thor
^ Yeah meant Eddie.

More focus does not = >>>

Seriously James mcavoys talents were seriously wasted on the roll.

The adult portion and the kids portion were melded together Far better for that emotional cling.

Oh I just saw the original like the other decade. Scared the shit out of me as a kid. Ive bought it and cant wait to rewatch.

I heard the side plot of the skateboard kid was added because McAvoy thought there was something missing to Bill's adult character arc. The whole mirror scene was added for that purpose. McAvoy was right that if you take that out, he has nothing, but it also felt poorly done and shoehorned in.

I watched some of the Red Letter Media review for this and even though they didn't entirely recommend it, it made me a little more interested in seeing the films. So I may at some point.

I'd say the opposite. If you liked the tone of the first one, you'll hate this if you expect more of the same.

Movie couldn't decide what it wanted to be.

An epic on the scale of modern comic book movies, It Chapter Two is a big deal for the horror genre. While not flawless, there's just so much to love being back with the Losers and Pennywise.

I saw it and I somewhat concur. Chapter 1 was better.

I wasn't a big fan of the seizure-inducing, strobe light Spider-Clown climax. The film did have some nice sequences, but was also sort of a mess. I felt like the script could have used some work... for example did the gay guys beaten up at the beginning have anything to do with the rest of the film?

I liked Stephen King's cameo, though. That was nice.

I'll probably give it another chance, but I found it somewhat disappointing.

"YOURE A BULLY!"

Having said that, the mini series was pretty corny and I still love it.

Impediment
The miniseries is fantastic.

The ending of Chapter II was f*cking wasted with that disgraceful excuse for Spider Pennywise. What a joke that was.

Patient_Leech
I agree on just about every point with Red Letter Media's review on this one. I sympathize with both of them, but probably lean a little more toward Mike's opinion. They nailed it.

I thought they were a little too harsh on Chapter 1, but even Jay admitted that it grew on him more the second time.
