I know these "But muh china money!" Instances are a dime a dozen, but this particular example is something of an acid test.
Because it involves Hasbro getting caught between "woke culture", which sinks ships and ends careers in the US, and Chinese sensitivities.
Specifically, they took a gay character, and turned them straight to appease Chinese audiences. They then doubled down and insisted said character was NEVER gay.
Here's the video:

A company that uses Chinese factories to manufacture their multitude of products is bending the knee to appease those pricks? Quelle surprise.

They actually moved out of China. Reports of moving to India and Vietnam were out this past July and August.

Really? It was only earlier this year that I heard about how they still produced Marvel Legends there.
if they are moving out (or have already), then that makes this move even stranger.

Whoops, they're still there. They just started moving operations out, something like 50% or under by the end of 2020.
It's all about the tariff's, they're killing them.
The story in the video I linked to is about Magic the Gathering though, I don't think their production would affect their product marketing strategies. China isn't "woke enough" for gay couples, so Hasbro had to choose between alienating their US market, or China. And they apparently figured it was better to ask for forgiveness in a market they already own, to penetrate a new market, then to respect the feelings of those in their existing one..
I guess from their perspective, they stand to lose either way, and China represents a bigger pot to gamble on.
