Question-

Are there certain posters here that you tend to give a wide berth to (and avoid debates with) when discussing a certain topic, because you know they are super knowledgeable in that area and it's not even worth a debate because they are typically right?

Could be posters from any forum.

dadudemon
No, nothing like that. But I do give a wide berth to some posters because they are notoriously stupid/ignorant/obstinate and not worth spending much time on.

I don't feel like anyone's knowledge is out of reach. All knowledge, positions, and facts are reachable with time and study. With how information works, you can know the differences between highly complicated surgical procedures that takes people 12 years to train to do - because it is documented on the interwebz.

The only topic I feel is out of reach without a ton of learning is graduate level mathematics. It builds foundation upon foundation upon foundation and you can't just jump right into some topics without a few months of study. Notice I said a few months? Because even that is within reach with just a few months of dedicated study.

Imma say no too.

Anyone in star wars, video games, movies, music, anime and manga, sports, TV..

People have this odd habit of getting super defensive if you criticize something they like. And I do like to criticize.

All have nuanced languages which non specialists struggle with.

Not really a wide berth, but if Astner states something math/physics-related, I always assume he's correct.

I disagree. People just do not have the patience or desire to learn it. That's all. It's not out of reach for people even one SD below the population average.

And Chemistry is very easy to learn and pick up very quickly. The nitty gritty details of it.

Math is the only thing I can think of that just goes on and on and on with lots of stuff you have to know to know what you're talking about. Not like other areas of human knowledge where it stops are a certain point (like Physics and Chemistry).

I know racism I wrong. I do not support racism.

Therefore, you're racist and you support racism.

You racist!

Anyway, that means you love love love the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and hate the Original and Prequel trilogies?

Josh is one of the worst people on here, akin to the village idiot.

You have a really good grip on this, though. Anyone who tries to argue with you about this is never able to finish you off. You just keep laying it out there without any care, just rope after rope of facts.

It's true. Many, many ropes.

Laziness on my part is the main determinant of whether or not I respond to a poster. Though I have long since learned, IRL, that if someone has a certain tone of voice (often "louder" is "righter"wink, I simply won't bother wasting my breath, even if motivated to blah-blah-blah back at them.

People who know their stuff, OTOH, I've found are often worth listening to. Even if we disagree, there's something to learn.

So... Backfire is a porn expert and dadudemon hates Maths.
