I was rewatching TPM last night and it got me wondering......

Does Qui-Gon still use Ataru in canon? I ask because his form obviously looks nothing like Yoda's for example. He didn't emphasize acrobatics like at all.

Galan007
One source implies that Qui-Gon used some sort of Makashi hybrid form...

"Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber may not be as ornate as that of his mentor, Count Dooku, but true to his rebellious ways, he used it to master the same classical fighting techniques as well as untraditional combat forms from across the galaxy."

Eli Vanto
That's odd. Source? confused

Galan007
It's from Lightsabers: A Guide to Weapons of the Force (2018).

Admittedly, it is a very strange source, because some of the events it references seem like they're plucked straight out of Legends. For example, it references Palpatine using a "dark side confusion haze" against Fisto/Kolar/Tinn, which is what enabled him to kill them so easily.

It also references Roron Corobb and Shakk Ti's battle with Grievous during the Clone Wars micro-series.

But yeah, it's canon... Written by Pablo Hidalgo.

You mean copied don'tcha? :P

Galan007
Lol, yep. thumb up

Interesting. Haven't heard about this.

You have a quote for the microseries reference?

I feel like he just put the older book into a word doc. Copy and pasted without reading and then just put it into the new book.

That quote makes 0 sense, since the Micro series was axed along with everything else except for TCW.

It seems so and it's really lazy that it wasn't even checked. I hope he at least knows what he did, that someone pointed it out to him at a later date.

Or at least this similar encounter will be taking place in TCW. Or perhaps some comic or novel.

Galan007
It's an extremely blatant copy/paste, and they just added some additional bits from new canon. It's odd because Hidalgo is usually very thorough.

So I guess that means the micro series is canon?? confused

It's not no. Only TCW is.

Galan007
At the absolute most it only canonizes that one particular scene from the microseries.
