Both are going all out. Imagine it was Malgus instead of Dooku in AOTC. I've always been interested in Malgus' dueling abilities vs Yoda's. Obviously both can use the force.
Bonus: Do you think Malgus' lightsaber form was form 5 or 7?

DirtyLuna
Yoda should take a majority. He mastered all 7 forms, was arguably the best form 4 specialist in history, was one of the strongest force users in both Canon and Legends. He would defeat almost anyone.
Malgus is definitely a fair opponent for Yoda, but he's below Yoda in every regard. His lightsaber form is form 5, most likely. I can see why one could assume form 7 but I think it's rather clearly form 5. It would also make sense because Malgus was heavily inspired by or even a copy of Vader, who used form 5, as the games creators adored Vader but evidently couldn't just take him.
For real though, Malgus was Vader without the upper half of the helmet and with force lightning.
Yoda takes 8/10

Yoda dismantles him

Yoda is twice as powerful as AOTC Dooku. He rapes Malgus.

How were they painted equals, otu of interest. Can't seem to recall that

"The Jedi Master Yoda confronted Dooku. The two engaged in a titanic struggle of Force powers, neither besting the other. It came down to a contest of lightsabers. In a blurring tangle of speed and light, the two masters of the Force dueled." -The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

"Yoda took a keen interest in the young Dooku. He assisted in Dooku's combat training and as a result, the Padawan became especially proficient with a lightsaber. Only Masters Yoda and Mace Windu were considered to be on equal terms with him." -Insider #109

"It was Count Dooku's combination of finesse and superior craftsmanship that enabled him to best both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, as well as hold his own against Jedi Master Yoda, during the Battle of Geonosis." -Insider #68

...And there are other quotes in the same vein.

Though as I should have noted in my last post: multiple Legends sources also state that Yoda was above Dooku(which obviously makes more sense anyway.) But Yoda vs. Dooku is something that has been vehemently argued for over a decade now... Not sure why, but whatevs. /shrug

In canon, however, there's really no argument. Yoda was confirmed to be 2x Dooku during AotC.

Lord Stark
The notion that Dooku and Yoda were close in power in Legends is effectively put to rest with their rematch on Vjun where even on a Dark Side Nexus with a hostage Yoda still proves to be more than a match for Dooku.

Yoda stomps regardless of canon or Legends

Vastly more powerful and skilled
