And the Guardian says Sinestro was losing because of his Ego, not his will. Star is far less knowledgeable than a Guardian, so I would go with the Guardians reasoning than Star.

Star Sapphire was pointing out the obvious, even the White Light isn't stopping Nekron and it wasn't. THey only stopped him by severing his link to Black Hand :
