Switch Thor with Superman

Can Superman tank a planetary blast from an AMPED Galactus unscratched just like Thor did

What condition is he in after

There are a couple of showings that suggest he'd be fine.

So Hawkman hits him with the planet:

Let's go bigger. A Sun eater:
https://imgur.com/a/48Qjd

Or a black hole (a big one):
http://i.imgur.com/nBH6Uuo.jpg

But here, he got hit by EM radiation from an explosion that was 50 times the size of Kepler's supernova, AFTER being weakened by red sun radiation:
https://imgur.com/a/5fpnT

Before you jump on me, remember I said he got hit by the EM rads - I KNOW he didn't get hit by the expanding ball of radiation behind it.
And BEFORE anyone jumps on me and says aha! double standards with Gladiator and his son!!! Remember we are actually shown what happens, as opposed to just Kid Glads saying it.

Then there's non planetary attacks like the recent Red Cloud, this is while he's "stronger" than he was?

https://i.postimg.cc/z3bVYBRK/ress.jpg

This is why I don't play the scaling game because all attacks aren't alike. Some hurt or don't hurt because because they have certain properties that prevent that from happening.

carver9
No, he can not.

And Cosmic Thor was hurt by a random alien carrying a rock in the same comic. Writers can be incredibly inconsistent.

But to answer your question, based on certain showings, yes, Superman CAN tank it and be fine.

He was knocked out of the sky, brought to his knees, and lost his hold on Mjolnir. A guy who tanks planetary blasts from an AMPED Galactus unscratched shouldn't even register it.

AlbertoJohnAvil
he wasn't worried about the planet killing him it was because it was the type of planets these are supposed to to be planets with op artifacts an energy

DarkSaint85
Irrelevant.

The ape things clearly hurt him. Which is my point. Writers are inconsistent.

I don't think the planet being destroyed matters. Its who the attack is coming from that matters. Example, this attack hurt Superman Prime and it appears to be nuke like. Make a thread asking if Superman could tank this and let's see what people responses would be.

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11132/111321350/6192108-zxbscst.jpg

The Galactus attack above would kill Superman. The planet explosion isn't what to worry about, its Galactus power that is in play here and he was using a lot of it during this scene.

Irrelevant - but even IF you wanted to argue that point....

Here is Emperor Joker. Who was pissed off at Superman:

Sure, Joker's isn't out to kill him. But even a love tap from him is pretty powerful.

Its funny that people cling to one showing about a story but ignore Superman getting koed by a gas station in DOS Superman and Doomsday failing to kill a shield less Booster Gold (there's more inconsistencies) and still put Dos Doomsday at a high tier. Bias is a man's best friend

What is JL King even talking about? Post a counter or leave the thread. What I said made perfect sense. Collateral damage doesn't equal power output. Anyone who knows anything about comics should know this.

If I can tank unscratched blasts from an AMPED Galactus, then no, a rock thrown by a random alien would register as much as an ant flinging a grain of sand at me.

the Boulder was from an enchanted planet, since boulders are part of planet's crust, they would be enchanted too.

AlbertoJohnAvil
Read the comic . Those 5 planets were enchanted and special, that's why Galactus was absorbing only them.

They where still special with energy that fed galactus..
If he consumed all five he would have not had his hunger.. it would have been the first time Galan was actually fully fed

No, people are not. I'm surprised you're only asking this question now. If people say yes, they're misunderstanding.

Alberto is downplaying Superman's feats with low showings. So I am merely pointing out that writers are inconsistent. Based on SOME of his showings (i.e. his high showings), yes, Superman can tank the attack.

That's all.

Why though? Galactus was already amped past his normal self. Then he ate this planet to the point of being unable to contain his energy/power and exploded. The planet being destroyed is just a side effect. Thor withstanding without a scratch an all out attack from an amped Galactus is insane. That IS an abstract level ft, no denying it. I don't understand why people are even acknowledging the planets destruction because this blast is far more than just that.

Example, Doom shields withstood attacks from 4 pissed Celestials. Nothing done to the area around him, let alone the bridge he was standing on. The high showing here is WHO his shields withstood the attacks from, not the collateral damage.

Superman dies from this attack and so does Hulk just in case someone was interested in knowing.

No.
Albert is downplaying Superman's good feats with lower showings. Therefore Dark is showing him that he can do the same to Thor (who is greatly inconsistent).

No one is literally using Thor's rock showing against him. And no one should be using Superman's low showing against him either.

Even though this statement is off, are you implying that a Super Nova type of explosion needs to happen from an attack in order for it to hurt Superman?

Um this is a non canon feat that more than likely never happened

the whole story was Pa Kent telling a story so that Ma kent would be comfortable with the idea that Superman was missing.

@Squall...

I don't think you should look at the attack as a planet exploding attack, look at it as an attack coming from one of the most powerful beings in Marvel who was amped 5 times over when it happened. Imagine judging every attack off of the collateral damage displayed. Trans tiers would be meta to street level

Action Comics 847 for those who want to cross reference it It happened. He's telling a story, but you're seeing the actual events that transpired while he's talking to Martha.

Pretty sure if someone looked it up, you can find McDuffie talking about it on forums, because he was a comic forum fanboy and loved talking about his comics.

And this was the second time we'd seen him survive him survive a sun eater explosion, the first time was before his death. The canonically weakest version of Superman, as he hadn't started digging into well of power yet. And he survived but was knocked out.

This one he tanked.

MrMind
it's jus alberto spewing nonsense desperately trying to lowball

Superman survived 50 times the size of Kepler's Supernova feat is definitely canon, such explosion would've evaporate asgard with odin thor and everyone in it.

we'll have to agree to disagree. What I read was his dad telling his mom exactly what he couldn't survive to keep her from worrying about him coming up missing while fighting a group of people just as powerful as him. They even left the concept of what he was lying about ambiguous if you look at the panels were she said thanks for lying to her when she needed it. Superman in deep space hit by red sun is powerless and by all rights and purposes human.
