It happened. The collision broke several bones in Simon's body. I've always thought that Hyperion looked an awful lot like Jimmy Olsen with Superman's abilities. I wouldn't be at all surprised if his creator thought of the idea while creating him. Anyway, Conner isn't a heavyweight. He has high end feats, but so does Spiderman. The heavyweights bottom out at Conner's highest highs, and rise to levels that enable them to take on Abstracts. Those times however are not their average.

That particular story had a team of dead anti heros contending with living heros. I'm not exactly sure, but I believe that the Hyperion that was used during that story was the same one that was able to go toe to toe with both the Savage Hulk and Thor. That would make his strength level comparable to the current Hyperion, although I believe that the current one is probably a bit stronger.

Conner simply isn't in this weight class, he'd be closer to Nova's (Sam) weight class.
