NASCAR Bans Confederate Flag

NASCAR has banned the Confederate battle flag at all of its events and properties.

In a Wednesday tweet, the stock car racing organization said the presence of the flag "runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and industry." -snip


The "rebels" are losing their minds.

I wish I could see the racists cry when they take their flags away. The south got crushed by the north. Get over it you racist losers.

The civil war was a war between wealthy plantation owners in the south wealthy industrialists in the north about dominance over the US politics. But slavery played a huge role in that.

Anyway, yes, the American Civil War was more than just fighting over slavery. There was also the asymmetric buttmad economics going on between the port cities, transportation of goods, etc. Slavery was a huge part of it, yes. But there were other elements of it, too.

Electing an Republican President certainly didn't help when the tensions were at their peak.

Edit - Lincoln wasn't, at first, an abolitionist, IIRC. I think I may be mistaken.

Yup, he did. He didn't care about the slaves until it became politically convenient for him to do so. That's when he made the Emancipation Proclamation (which only officially freed the slaves in states that had seceded, not in union states, btw).

Squall is also correct about Lincoln having a plan to ship blacks to South America or even back to Africa.
