I have a theory that all of Batman's feats and 'PIS' moments are due to Batmite looking over his shoulder and saving him.

In the respect thread that Galan made, he says that Bat-Mite and Mxy are in the end, the same "person".
This does not seem to be the opinion of most writers.

Is there anything else in that sense, besides the events of Emperor Joker?

The issue stated that Bat-Mite = a part of Mxy's power.

No writers have touched on it since, though.

Mxy and Bat-Mite don't just represent the imagination of Superman/Batman. As Imps, they represent the metafictional essence of imagination itself as it exists in comics. ie. comics are MADE of imagination(from the RW writers), and the Imps embody that concept.

World Forger noted that Superman and Batman had Imps "assigned" to them, due to their importance in the overall cosmology... And Mxy/BM have acted as their "guardian angels" since.

I agree.
There can't be room to doubt it.
Imps is representation of our imagination manifested in DC universe.
And, More higher we are, more metafictional we will be.

So, I suspect that The Source is everyone/everything related to DC.
In Multiversity, It is implied that Empty Hand(darkside of us) is tied to The hand of creation as The Source or The Presence
