Love the prodigy, the cure (all mixed up album is a fave for chilling,) alice in chains (sap,) smashing pumpkins ghish, rage against the machine.....

Tons of more modern music as well now but those are some of the music from the youthful days:P

I also saw all of those in concert except the cure.......before I left the dc area I ended up watching something like 40-50 different bands/concerts live/perform.

Lollopoluza at lake fairfax was maximum jacked with RHCP, Minsitry, Ice Cube, Pearl Jam, porno for pyros etc etc crazy fun.

Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is also excellent, and kind of underrated. 'The Perfect Girl' is a great song off that album. Robert Smith is in the top tier of singers, songwriters and guitarists. He also played with Siouxsie and the Banshees for a while and was great with them.

Those of you who like The Prodigy and metal (of any kind) should be happy with the "industrial noise techno" genre, as I call it.

I almost don't like ANY music with singing/voices in it. Hate it. It interferes with my thoughts.

But I do like some. Just heard this a few days ago and I liked it:

Next, a new-ish genre of dance/club music called Jungle Terror gets me going. It's a fusion of electronic dance music and tribal beats. When people got tired of Dubstep, Brostop, and Breakstep in the clubs, they need a loud, noisy, bumpin' successor that could still get the drunk and high idiots going. Enter the Jungle Terror genre.

Wiwek is the pioneer.

Music is my main passion. To go into any detail about my music taste would just get really absurd really quickly. That's why I'm probs just gonna wait until people post stuff I really like and then comment on it.

Sufjan is awesome, I still need to get into him more but Illinoise is such a good album, the John Wayne Gacy tracks are heartbreaking.

DDM, if you like instrumental music, I might suggest Grails. They're one of my favourite instrumental rock groups, they kind of fuse rock and psychedelia with medieval overtones, I find them really great to write or work to. Idk if it'll be your bag, but check out Deep Politics (which, ironically, is what this thread is not about, for once) and see what you think.

Also, yes, there was this South American instrumental metal band a gal introduced to me when we were dating, a few years back. I'll try and find them. It's good stuff. And it wasn't so noisy that it prevented me from thinking.

A few now that I think about. Not as many as some guys I work with who have been doing it for about 40 years in some cases.

Little Steven (Silvio from The Soprano's) and The Disciples Of Soul,
Slade,
Damon Albarn with his supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen,
Stereophonics,
Austrailian Pink Floyd (I know they're a tribute act but they're bigger than a lot of signed, original groups),
The Ting Tings (let me play on their drum kit... not a euphemism),
Ladytron,
CKY (Bam Margera's band),
Enter Shikari

and

last and definitely least... Lostprophets (I'll forget about working with them)

There are a few others too, they're the biggest probably. Looking forward to getting back into it, hopefully around October, Covid willing.

You're used to not actually laying eyes on a band member either before or after a gig TBH, but as far as he is concerned though he always left straight away after a gig, the other guys stuck around a bit, chatting with tech staff/personal friends/crew, they even grab a couple of bits of kit themselves IIRC. A band member leaving straight after a gig isn't anything extremely unusual though, we all just assumed he was a diva or something, but in hindsight he may have left for nefarious purposes. Pretty sure there was a gig with an overnight run to another gig, for example, Manchester-Liverpool, Manchester-Birmingham, Nottingham-Sheffield, where he left afterwards and drove back to his home in Wales to stay overnight and join up at the new venue the next night and the techies and his band mates were doing that tutting, head shaking thing as if this wasn't the first time. At the time I wondered what would compel someone to do that, I mean, almost anything goes on a tour bus, drugs, hookers, etc. Then after the story about him broke, I stopped wondering what his motivation was.

Steve Van Zandt is a bit of a perfectionist, he has really high standards but it's his tech crew that have to deal with that side of him. He's best spoken to at the end of a good gig as he's very focused beforehand and takes each and every gig seriously, genuinely loves what he does though.

I was also super huge into folk metal when I was younger and still listen to a lot of it:

Eon Blue

Surtur
It's hard for me to answer questions like this. I listen to music from a ton of different genre's, it depends on the mood.

I did have only 2 band t-shirts in my life: The Doors and a Jimi Hendrix "Are you experienced".

Eon Blue
You strike me as a hippy kinda guy, Surtur.

Surtur
I listen to a lot of music from that era.

But also the 1980s. And even some classical music. Or some old timey stuff, Glenn Miller is the shit.

Surtur
I like the big band stuff:

My two favorite instrumental bands are animals as leaders and corduroi

Here's animals

I can only find corduroi on stuff like bandcamp or spotify

So I finally listened to Animals. No singing. Just right. Good tune. smile

Thanks for this.

I'll check out Corduroi, later.

fascinating Sam, you've certainly had some truly interesting experiences. I look forward to your posts greatly. They usually, like with a number of other less prolific posters like Raptor 22 and Style time are for me forum highlights.

Cheers buddy, high praise indeed. My stories are nothing compared to other people I work with, One guy (who has actually been mentioned by name in a couple of autobiographies) helped Courtney Love flood the streets of Liverpool with LSD she had supposedly gotten from her father, then chucked her skanky, drunk arse out on the street (they were squatting together) as she pi**ed herself.
