The whole football and Native American thing had me come to that conclusion.
George Preston Marshall never wanted to change the name of The Redskins. The reason given for his capitulation, is a group of investors pressuring him in a way he couldn't ignore.
Nobody cares because this is seen as a good change, but think about what this really means. It means investors pretty much own us. They can force whatever changes they want down our throats, because everyone is beholden to the almighty dollar.
Seriously, how is this any different from China getting upset over the "Free Hong Kong" speech, and the resultant crackdowns?
Or more importantly, what happens if progressive positions suddenly became unprofitable? Say, if our relationship with China became deep enough where it turned out their racism against blacks was clashing with "black lives matter", and suddenly black pope became suppressed in media.
Which, btw, actually happens when we ship movies over to china. Star Wars actually edited Finn's face, making him much less prominent in movie paraphernalia.
