Old Man Whirly!
Everyone seems to want to go to Mars these days... Regardless of climate change etc... we still have more resources here and a better climate. Mars for me, only works as a back up.

Sure you are (a martian).

it just doesnt matter. they should prioritise and put all resources to planetary defense (against asteroids deano, not lizard men) and exploration via telescopes/probes etc. who the **** cares if a guy walks on mars. what does it accomplish? "ZOMG WE PUT A GUY ON MARS" and then the next day rense.com calls it all a fraud and a hollywood creation. priorities should be set straight.

i've been hating on mars wankery since 2006

for the sake of argument, lets say they found a gold nugget the size of our moon. then what? there'd be no practical (let alone profitable) way to bring it to earth. even if they set up robot mines on the asteroid, it's one of the heaviest minerals, so the transport costs would negate any profit, unless the cost of gold were hyper-inflated
