Society is so hypocritical on this issue.

They'll shame sex workers (most seem to be Women) and call them whores, sluts, and other derogatory terms.

Yet people watch porn and get off on that.

They also are promiscuous but somehow that's now slutty or whorish.

In my opinion, if consenting adults want to have sex and exchange money, that's their business.

I say legalize solicitation of sex and prostitution and treat it like any other job.

From data shown, it is legal just very specific locations and regulations. Depending on where you are, some countries it is legal fully.

I think it is a good idea to legalize sex workers. At least for the fact that it will reduce the profitability of the criminals and ensure the rights of thousands of people in this industry.

What hypocrisy? Whore means prostitute. It might be derogatory but that's what it means.

Whore, hoe, slag, ****, ********** etc.

Slag and sl*t, etc, are derogatory terms for people who sleep around, but whore literally means sex worker, I mean I wouldn't call a woman that whether or not she's a sex worker, but the statement; 'Society sees women sex workers as whores' means nothing really.

Old Man Whirly!
Whore is descriptive but profane, the other terms are there to try and trigger.

I'm aware the word is derogatory.

That's the point I made.

I actually agree. Regulate it, tax it, and make it a safe environment for both the workers and the customers. The sooner it becomes a way of life the better.

Steps just need to be taken to make sure things like trafficking are fought hard too. No sex worker should be there unless its of their own free will.

It's legitimate business!

However, if a woman knowingly has an STD and she continues to do it and doesn't even bother to inform the client that she has it and he catches it as a result then that should be considered a crime and she should be prosecuted for it.

This is true for both genders.

Informed consent to sex is critical.

We agree. thumb up

Actually agree that it should be legalized.

If a woman wants to make a living turning tricks that is her business and same goes for a guy who is willing to pay for it.

However, if a woman knowingly has an STD and she continues to do it and doesn't even bother to inform the client that she has it and he catches it as a result then that should be considered a crime and she should be prosecuted for it.

As for those in the porn business, yeah I'm not against that either at least from a legal perspective. I mean, I watch porn myself so couldn't be against that even though I know it is wrong morally.

But calling those women sl*ts or whores is not wrong either. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then in all likelihood it's a duck.

I agree. There is more puritanical attitudes towards this in North America than other parts of the world - extreme violence in culture is more acceptable than sex here.
It's changing slowly, but should be changing faster.
