It's disgusting how veterans are treated. I just met a guy who's been to Bosnia, Kosovo, Somalia, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He told me that they'd have a weekend of pure recuperation, ie. a drinking weekend, then straight back into combat.

When they raided a Taliban camp, he wondered why there were so many bags of soap powder everywhere, not realising they were bags of cocaine.

Since he got discharged, all he knew were drinking and that's all he's done.

It's sad Republicans have to be forced once again to actually care about our veterans, than just spouting empty "support the troops!" slogans.

Libertarian Rand Paul justified opposing the bill, because veterans could not "prove" that exposure to burn pits "caused" their ailments.
