"What is the word "homosexual" was never meant to be in the bible"

The mystery of how theology, history, culture, and politics led to a Biblical mistranslation, the man who tried to stop it, and the impassioned academic crusade of the LGBTQIA+ Christian community driven to discover the truth.

1946 is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film's creators, and original music by Grammy winning artist Mary Lambert, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

I'm always down for a good documentary and this one shows some promise. Also looking forward to all the Far-Right religious tears this film is bound to bring.

Fixed?

Seems far fetched, but I guess I'm somewhat intrigued. Isnt it usually written "man lying with a man" or something? It's not exactly a word for "homosexual." Seems unlikely that there wasn't some serious prejudice when those books of the Bible were written. And there are tons of books that weren't compiled into the canon. So I guess it's possible that the prejudiced books could have been excluded.

But the Bible should be ritually and ceremoniously burned once a year.

F#ck Christianity and religion in general.

What's came to make up the earliest bible and what makes up the current bibles has been told and re-told and edited and re-edited for 2,000 years with people adding in their own biases along the way, so who really knows.

Watched a docu years ago and they had a very old transcript of Leviticus that said something along the lines of 'man shall not lie with man in the bed of a woman', which made them believe homo-sex was probably allowed, as long as you kept your boyfriend(s) out of your marriage bed.

But I'm willing to hear and see what evidence these people have.
