Cal dueled the Fifth Brother in chapter 12 of Jedi: Battle Scars. The Fifth Brother contemptuously slapped aside Cal's attempt at disarming the Inquisitor with telekinesis. During the lightsaber duel, the Fifth Brother was noted to not be very graceful or skilled, but still bullied Cal almost into submission with raw, brute force. Cal was able to hold his own saber-to-saber by simply being more agile and clever. Also, turns out that ridiculous hat the Fifth Brother wears is lightsaber resistant, protecting the Inquisitor from what would have been a fatal blow. The fight was extremely close, with Cal being worn down and needing frequent stims from BD-1. He wore the Fifth Brother down with several small knicks and cuts. However, at the end, the Fifth Brother had Cal beat, lightsaber to Cal's throat. Cal only survived by stalling for time until Cere could show rescue him.

Cere, on the other hand, had a pretty easy time against the Fifth Brother initially. She just slowed the Inquisitor's charge with the Force, basically stopping him in place. Then she rushed him before he could recover from the stun, putting him completely off-balance. She also outmatched the Fifth Brother in the Inquisitor's own preferred lightsaber style just as an additional deliberate flex.

The Fifth Brother eventually disconnected his lightsaber into a pair of blades, and held his own against both Cere and Cal, trying to outlast them both through pure stamina. He actually managed to jab a lightsaber into Cere's shoulder as the Jedi pair began to tire. While Cal was distracted by Cere's injury, the Fifth Brother knocked Cal out with a powerful TK push into a wall. Cere barely survived the Inquisitor's follow-up attack, using the Force to disassemble his lightsaber just moments before he could deliver a killing blow. When he tried to escape, she used TK to basically bundle him up in a door and completely incapacitate him.

Maybe, but I doubt it. The same book has Cal state that he didn't beat Trilla through greater skill or power, but had instead basically worn her down through psychological warfare, reminding her of her trauma with Cere and breaking her connection to the dark side. So Cal is still firmly of the opinion that Trilla was his superior. Meanwhile, Cal and the Fifth Brother fought roughly on par, with the Fifth Brother only really getting the edge because of his boundless stamina.

Total Warrior
nice feats, Cere is very powerful in the force but looks like her saber skills are shit

Before this I would have said Cal would defeat the Fifth Brother in like 5 moves, lmao.

This really does put Kanan on a whole other level to Cal. But tbf Cal does still have 4/5 years In the timeline to catch up to him.
