"Playing god" used to be a bad thing. Even secular types would chastise you if you talked about modifying humans like this back when I went to school.

And now we're just modifying DNA in humans as though we're the Almighty. No limits, no breaks, no ethical conversations, just do it because we can.

This is the definition of "road to hell with good intentions". You don't need to be a believer in religion to believe in a line, and see how we crossed it.

Now? This first happened back in 1997. You're probably too f*cking braindead to even know what a mitochondria is, much less what the procedure is actually for.

No it didn't. Not Mitochondrial donation treatment.

Source or stfu.

Source or stfu. Do your own Googling dipshit, you're on here often enough, I know you know how to type. That you're capable of recognizing technicalities and still chose to open with smoothbrain "but Gawd!" nonsense kinda reveals your selective hearing. Try looking up Jacques Cohen from New Jersey. Here, I found you a starting article since I love you so much: https://www.statnews.com/2016/10/26/children-3-way-dna/

MDT and MRT are the same thing. External mitochondria from a healthy female donor are used to replace defective mitochondria in the recipient. That's the gist. The technology's been around since the 90s and has several methods, the one from the 90s was less effective and was prone to failure so it's been discontinued. The kids born in 2016 from John Zhang's team in Mexico used a different method, and the recent births from the U.K. are just the first in that country. This shit ain't new.

And because I know you love life so much, you definitely won't be opposed to MRT being used to repair defective heart muscle cells in newborns, now will you? https://www.dispatch.com/story/lifestyle/health-fitness/2018/07/15/mitochondria-procedure-offers-hope-to/6235555007/
