..and I've thought this since day one.

So a mysterious guy named Satoshi Nakamoto comes out and releases this thing. No one knows who he is, he may as well be a ghost. Yet Bitcoin takes off like wildfire.

Ok, so how did a mysterious guy get taken so seriously in the first place? You expect me to believe a niche community was able to drum up the mother of all marketing campaigns on this brand new digital currency most of the public would be unfamiliar with?

It's not even about the product, it's a question of credibility and making media companies and big shots Care. If you or I released a major thing like that from out of the blue, nobody would care. They'd ask who the heck we are and what we've done in our lives to even be making waves. I mean, EVERYBODY wants the spotlight on a thing, most don't get it. Having a major invention isn't enough, genius's get overlooked all the time.

So why did Bitcoin catch on then? The way I see it, this must have been astroturfed. Not organic grassroots like they claim, but a top down campaign some big shots wanted to take off, for whatever reason.

tl;dr

Bitcoin is likely similar to a pyramid scheme. YW

I've still got money invested in bitcoin. It's been a few years and I'm only holding onto it because I don't want to lose money just for some other idiot to gain the stock I sold.
