I find it interesting that two of the most important historical properties of Marvel and DC - who had also proved to be the biggest problem children in doing right for the big screen - are going head to head in July 2025.
One will stand, one will fall? Or will they both succeed?
Discuss.

Superman has the better track record over FF on the big screen.
But then Marvel has the better track record to DC (obviously).
Director's for both are promising though.
I'm personally looking forward to FF. Always liked them despite the big screen disasters.

Superman has a chance to be the better film considering Gunns track record.
BruceSkywalker
both will be successful
then the syderc7nts will shit and spontaneous combust

Bryan Singer had a great track record going into Superman Returns, too. But he ended up delivering a meh product and later confessed he struggled with it. On paper, Gunn is no more suited to direct a Superman film than Singer, just based on artistic temperament.

Very good points. Hopefully Gunn is up to the task more than Snyder and Singer were.

I dont think the character is undo able on the big screen if thats what youre getting at.
Singer was more of a JJ Abrams hit or miss. In fact Singer Force Awakened that one (or was it the other way around given Superman Returns came first).
Difference being Force Awakens was obviously a huge hit.

I'm more excited to finally, hopefully get a good FF4 film.
Also looking forward to reboot Superman, even though it will likely be nothing really new.

New ff teaser came out. Ben looks good imo.
playa1258
FF4 looks good. Probably will be the best MCU film this year.

Exactly my thought. Best he's looked in live action. Really does look a lot like comic book Ben.
Tbf though the last FF movie was 10 years ago, so we'd expect a better look today (That last one looked awful though).

Looks good.
But he sounds like Korg

Robtard
Honestly, every rock based hero should sound like Korg.

I think they'll both be successful. Looking forward to FF more, but you never know.
The Thunderbolts will be the best superhero movie of the year though.

I think you're probably right about that. But I'm still more stoked for a MCU FF.
playa1258
LOL @ Thunderbolts. Superman and FF4 will wipe their asses with that film.

We mean quality not box office.

Money wise,,,,sure. Quality wise,,,,nope.
playa1258
Quality? Come on Gunn is easily the best writer and director of the comic films coming this year.
StiltmanFTW
That's why he is recycling the Snyderverse material and putting Guy Gardner in the movie, right?

Nothing Gunn could do could be any worse than the bone-headed writer decision to have Sentry in your movie.

Oh I wouldn't bet against him. But from the trailers Thunderbolts looks better Imo.

The Superman movie legitimately needs to be excellent. The FF movie really doesn't, but I hope it is.

Honestly, focusing so much on Guy Gardner could get them cancelled:

Especially after the Neil Gaiman thing. Not to mention Gunn's shitposting history.
Krypto alone won't save the film.
Infinaut616
That's true, but I also hope Guy and the other heroes don't get much screentime at all. This movie needs to push the absolute crap out of Superman specifically. The other heroes can get fleshed out later.
StiltmanFTW
Nathan Fillion is Gunn's friend, don't forget.

Wow. Even if Guy were in a CW show, he'd still look corny AF. That's painful to look at.

I highly doubt it's more than the way Justice Society featured in Black Adam. Most probably less.

Save it? That put me off from the get go. Add in Guy Gardner and I was like "this is a cartoon"
But tbf it's Gunn. He takes ridiculous characters and ideas and makes them work.

Looks even worse in the actual trailer, by the way.

Yes, but such elements also dominate his movies completely, overshadowing everything else.
It wasn't a big deal with the Guardians or Peacemaker - as they are very obscure characters.
Same trick is not guaranteed to work with the A-listers.
