Thought this was a dead franchise, pleasantly surprised.

Still tied up in a legal battle preventing its release, unfortunately.

I think the "leak" is to drum up demand for it to get released.

Don't know. My guess is some of the stuff in it is a bit too close to existing IPs they haven't got permission to use. Transformers, Pacific Rim, Knight Rider to name a few.
