If agents can become anybody who is still connected to the matrix, then why when say morpheus is talking to Neo or when they are trying to free somebody else don't the agents just take over their bodies and attack them. It would be the sensiable thing to do surely.
Ginerninja
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that morpheus, neo and trinity have all been unplugged from the matrix, thats my only assumption and logical reason for it.
Crappybob
Sorry Ginerninga you did not understand the post. He is talking about before Neo is freed in the first movie why didn't an agent take over his body and attack Morpheus. My guess is because that would have killed Neo and the machines didn't want that.
Ushgarak
They do not always know everything that is going on, else the resistance woulkd have no chance.
Caliden
i think its because the agents didnt realise who Neo was only that he had been contacted by the terrorist Morpheus. As Morpheus said something like if they knew who i think you are you would be already dead
Ginerninja
I agree, they did not know Neo was destined to be The One before he died and came back, even the Oracle could barely see it...She even said you havethe ability but are not using it or something like that.
SpikeSpiegel
I don't mean like that. If you've seen the animatrix detective story, when the agent attempts to become Mr. Ash to kill trinity then why not do that when the group are trying to free someone?
Evil Dead
Because the agents don't know where the rebels are going to be at any given moment, that's how they stay alive................the rebels aren't jacked into the system so they can't be traced..........the only way the agents can find Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, etc. is if somebody who is jacked into the system sees them and recognizes them.........this sends off a red flag in the system and the agents automatically morph there......
Bottom line............if the agents have no clue where Morpheus is......how do they know who he is currently talking to?
This is the reason they bugged Neo in the first movie.........so he could lead the agents to Morpheus and company............it's also why Cypher left his cell phone on and at the hardline, so the agents would know where they were.........
Dexx
yeah..like ush says, if they knew everything they wouldn't have a chance. I think that summaries the explanation.
because...the sentient program, the agent, should bloody know everything that's going on inside the matrix. It's a search program also...i doubt it would be too difficult to have every single person plugged into the matrix in a registry and know where they are every sec......with the processing techs in those days?..seems plausible
Mithrandir
yeah the matrix does not have complete control over itself(if that makes sense). It is quite equipped to deal with the rebels, however agents are not omnipotent. this is seen many times throughout the movies.
Dexx
logicaly, they should be
freemind
The agents can move in and out of any software still hardwired to their system. I dont know about why they dont do what you said.
Evil Dead
Because they don't know which software they need to move in and out of.................
They bug neo in the first movie because they have no way of finding Morpheus and co. and are hoping Neo will lead them to Morpheus and Co.
If they don't know where the hell Morpheus is in the Matrix, how can they morph into someone where Morpheus is?
Dexx
if the agent would be as strict as the tech would provide, he could. but it would be unfair
