Just for your information, EJ, the Gold Yoda and Destiny cans are considered promotional, so technically you have the whole set smile I was gonna sign up on EBAY because they have destiny cans available on there occasionally but sadly enough they are expensive. I saw a beauty that even came in a casing from Pepsi, Inc., ended at about $108 I think.

theEviljedi
I know UBH, but I still fell that I don't have the complete set.sad The cheapest I saw was in the Star Wars Insider magazine for $50.I guess it isn't meant to be.sad

From 77' I have all the soft cover novels and "making of" including Splinter of the Minds Eye and an out-of-print ep4 novel with unusual limited-run cover art. Five complete sets of ep4 trading cards, a finished metal replica of the falcon, about 6 inches across, some action figures and posters. (I almost had a one sheet from the local theatre, but ended up with "Close Encounters", but its still the real thing and pretty cool). Actually I have too much stuff to mention, but the one sheet for ep1 that I acquired earlier this year is totally awesome. I got it mounted with a muted finish metal frame with golds, browns and tans that pick up the color of Anakins shirt and some of Obi Wan and Qui Gon and it was like PERFECT !!
Cost me almost $ 200 for the framing, but it was worth it !

I forgot about the Comics I have too. But I don't know their value <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT="erm"> Does anyone know how much the Dark Empire comics are worth, I have issues #1,2,4,5,6

Ratcat
Forgot my new collection of Death Star II and Young Jedi CCG. Still pretty embryonic but growing.

finti
I've got all the 4 movies and some posters, and the books for the 4 episodes. In other words the GL stuff.
The novels by Timothy Zhan and others are not Sw to me,
that's just spin offs. More like if I continued on the Mona Lisa painting. I was on the verge of starting to collect them, but then I came to my senses and decided not to even read them.

<chanting>
There`s only one George Lucas!!!!!

Ratcat
Don't knock em til you try em. There are some bad ones, but on the whole they are very good and they have all been 100% endorsed by Lucasfilms and George Lucas.

The New Jedi Order books, so far I'm on my third, have all be impeccable. Also books like I Jedi where focus is tken off of the main characters and onto some new ones is very good too.

queeq
Yep, the good ones at least give you a nice Star Wars buzz. I will never consider them canon though. It gets to soap-opera-ish for that.

UnknownBountyHunter
Yeah, queeq IS a Star Wars nut I see laughing out loud What about my comics, any estimates? They are all out of print in Germany so I would like to know.

Ratcat
There are specialist collectors out there that would proably pay good money if they are in any kind of condition.

UnknownBountyHunter
Ratcat they are same condition when I bought them (Brand New!).

Gundark
If they are in some kind of wrapper they are practically priceless, but even unwrapped mint condition is very good. There are some SW web sites around that will give you estimates of values.

queeq
You have to be nuts to stick around here. laughing out loud

queeq abides

Ratcat
If they are in mint, or almost mint and you want to sell them then you really need to contact a specialist dealer. They are probably worth a few pennies.

finti
I found the original comic of ANH in my closet, kind of neat to read it, Norwegian bubbles so the name Han is kind of confusing in Norwegian. Han in norwegian is the english HE. So when the english text said "what about Han,he ....so in Norwegian it is hva "HVA MED HAN, HAN......
And the bubbles are written in capital letters but then again I was only 9 at the time so i didnt care. I lved the comic and I loved the film, still do, so I didnt care.

About 5 years ago there were 3 or 4 comic dealers near where I live but they all went out of business. It's a rather specialist area, mainly dominated by DC and Marvel dealers.

UnknownBountyHunter
Hey EvilJedi, guess what I just bought? A destiny can! smile Cost me 120 Marks! sad

queeq
What?! A destiny can for DM 120????? You win, UBH, you win.
Why on earth would you buy that?

queeq abides

Gundark
How much is that in us dollars?

UnknownBountyHunter
I have never really gotten my hands on the exact exchange rate, but most Germans use the 2DM=1US type deal, so about $60US And queeq, why would I buy it? I dunno, check out my first post roll eyes (sarcastic)

theEviljedi
You could have bought it from Star Wars Insider for $50 you know.roll eyes (sarcastic)

queeq
Plus shipping costs to Germany! That'll be even a bit more than US$60. In that case UBH got a good deal.

What does it look like? And what do you do with it, UBH?

I have two of the OT movies boxed sets, the old one and the newest one, I bought it just for the preview of EP2. I only have 11 figures, but I have 42 books. EP1, duh and 6 posters. There is a poster shop right across the street to my dorm and they have a bunch of SW posters. My favorites are the ROTJ poster with the Rancor and the EP1 with young Anakin and the Darth Vader shadow. I also own all the soundtracks and two t-shirts, and a Qui-Gon lightsaber. Oh, and I just got a SW calender too.

Gundark
I almost forgot...my brother got me a Darth Vader watch that is like 3-dimensional..the helmet part is about an inch high. You ought to see the looks I get when I wear it...especially being a girl. Talk about nuts. laughing out loud laughing out loud

(Still a true fan smokin' )

queeq
Does anyone own the Shadows of the Empire soundtrack? I was wondering if it was any good.

queeq abides

Gundark
Whoa...back up the hearse. Shadows of the Empire soundtrack???? Methinks me didn't know there was one. Please enlighten me, queeq-darling. smile

queeq
Yes there is one. Check it out on Amazon. It exists and is done by a different composer. They used the John Williams stuff as well of course.
I was a bit reluctant to buy it, I was wondering if it was any good. It was based on the book, seems like a special project.

queeq abides

finti
It is very dramatic and its of no comparison to Williams work. They are lightyears appart, dont buy it!!!!!

Gundark
Thanks for the inside info finti. Kind of hard to follow a soundtrack when you don't have the pictures inside your head.

queeq
Well, that's because you're not used to it I guess. I collect soundtracks and have done so for over 15 years. I listen to a lot of music I have never seen the movie. One can enjoy music WITHOUT pictures, Gundy-dear. In this case I guess it's more a musical journey through the story, inspired by the book.

So, finti, what's so bad about it. Dramatic isn't necessarily bad, is it?

queeq abides

Gundark
Once again corrected by my master...Sigh...(Gundark goes and sits in corner, pouts) sad

finti
No dramatic isnt always bad, but let me refrase myself. Very over dramatic and.... I just mean it it is, well just as bad as Brittany Spears and that is BAD!!!!!!
OOps I did it again. Barfbag anyone?, a lot of them.
Williams work rule, Shadow in the dustbin.
But then again taste is very hard to discuss.
Just my humble opinion.

queeq
Well, I figured as much. That's why I was reluctant to buy it. It could be so much less than JW's work. I mean, I know a lot of soundtrack composers but I never even heard of this guy. Can't even remember his name.

queeq abides

Gundark
Well at least the book was pretty good. smile

Ah, nuts !!! (Just to comment on topic. Hehehe laughing out loud )

finti
I just read the comic, and my nephews had the nintendo game.I read someplace that The shadow of the empire was a story GL very much wanted to film.

queeq
Well, it definately wasn't bad. That is, I only read the comic and I played and finished the game. But it all sounds very intriguing.

COREWORLD
Queeq, the score for 'Shadows' is by Joel Macneely, he was responsible for the score to the recent 'Avengers' movie, but don't hold that against him! The score itself tries to sound like a SW score and actually succeeds in two instances, one being 'Beggar's canyon chase' and the other 'Night skies',the latter of which features the 'Imperial march' and the 'Force' theme. A bold attempt, but proof positive that the only man that can score SW is John Williams.

queeq
So what would you say? Should I buy it?

queeq abides

finti
What about eh.... NO!!!!!!

queeq
I know how you feel about it. I want to hear CW's opinion.

queeq abides

finti
Cool cuz i just gave it to himevil face evil face

COREWORLD
Queeq, i noticed a few posts back that you are a fellow soundtrack collector, if that is the case then it may be a bit more up your alley than Finti's, the music tends to lean towards the style in TPM, I.E. Lot's of choral arrangement's, if you have played the game 'Shadow's of the Empire', then you will have heard at least some of it playing on these levels: Swoop bike chase, the sewers and the Skyhook battle. In my own personal opinion, it rates okay, it did not do anything to disgrace the Star Wars name.

queeq
I'll have to play those levels again then just to check them out again. I can't really remember them.

You're a soundtrack collector as well? Who are your favourite composers aside from JW?

queeq abides

COREWORLD
My other favourites are Jerry Goldsmith,(The film may have been dodgy but Star Trek: TMP remains an excellent score.) Basil Poledouris,(Conan the Barbarian is awesome.)Vangelis(Blade Runner) and John Barry(the Bond themes). On the outer fringes is James Horner, although a lot of his scores can be repetitive. Who are your faves Queeq?

finti
If im not mistaken they uses the same theme for Castaway as they used in Bravehart.

queeq
Goldsmith is OK, so the Poledouris' Conan (especially the first one). I love Vangelis (Blade Runner, 1492).
Horner is not outside the fringes in my book, but he is moving into that direction. I hate him being so repetitive, he did so many great and varied scores when he became famous.

I love Danny Elfman (all of it), Hans Zimmer, Maurice Jarre (although I know little of his latest work if he is still active that is), James Newton Howard, Carter Burwell and Angelo Badalamenti.

I don't know about Castaway. Did they?

queeq abides

COREWORLD
Ah yes! The brilliant Danny Elfman i forgot him! The original 'Batman' score features high on my album list, i'm eagerly awaiting to see what he does with the 'Spiderman' score. Hans Zimmer is also very good, i was very impressed with 'Gladiator'.
As for 'Castaway', the 'Braveheart' Theme was used over the trailers (a common practice) maybe this is what Finti meant.

queeq
Ohh right. They do that kind of things a lot.

I liked Hans Zimmer's scores for Pacific Heights and The Rock as well, but Gladiator is excellent.
My favourite Danny Elfman is Batman Returns or Edward Scissorhands. I felt Batman Returns was a lot better than Batman, more like a huge suite. The Penguin's theme is awesome.

queeq abides

finti
Thanks CW i just saw the trailer for castaway so thats where I heard the tune.smile

queeq
Another mystery solved... laughing out loud

queeq abides

COREWORLD
Finti, no problem mate! Speaking of Vangelis (which we aren't, but what the heck) i'm looking forward to the soon to be released Blade Runner DVD 2 disc set, with that fantastic score remixed in Dolby Digital 5.1! I hope this is the definitive version of this film as it's almost getting as bad as a certain trilogy in the rebuying stakes, what was you guys opinion of the film when you first saw it? Style over substance or instant sci-fi classic?

Gundark
The Braveheart soundtrack was fantastic. I confess to having bought Titanic also.

finti
The girl humming on the titanic soundtrack is actually Norwegian, her name is Sissel and she has a fantastic voice. She also teamed up with Warren G on a song called Prince Igor. smile

queeq
Well, I have BOTH Titanic CD's and I think they're great.

As for Blade Runner, thanks for informing me about the release of the 2DVD set. I was about to buy the Director's Cut DVD without any extra's.
Blade Runner has always been a great favourite of mine. I went to see it because of Ford, but I felt the world Scott visualised was extremely compelling. My countryman Rutger Hauer played his best role ever in this film. But I must say that the Director's Cut is a lot better.

queeq abides

COREWORLD
Queeq, as far as i can tell, the new edition of Blade Runner has some sequences that were cut from the final film, such as the scene where Deckard visits Holden in the hospital, but i don't know if they have been spliced into the film or not. The film contains some of my most favourite lines of dialogue in any film, the Roy Batty speech: "I've seen things you humans wouldn't believe." Awesome!

queeq
I have seen those scenes in a 'Making oif Blade Runner' made by the BBC a few years ago. Or was it somewhere else? Could have been on the internet though?

Yeah, I loved Roy Batty line as well as the rest of it. "I've seen things you people couldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain."

Did you know Rutger Hauer wrote those lines himself?

queeq abides

COREWORLD
Queeq, there is a book out there which you may/may not be aware of, it is called 'Future Noir:The making of Blade Runner' By Paul M. Sammon, HB/442pp. If you like Blade Runner,(which you do) then i cannot recommend this book enough, it offers a fascinating look into the troubled production from it's early beginings, through to the excitement of the discovery of the 'Workprint' which lead to the 'directors cut' and beyond, it is on the Orion Media label.

COREWORLD
