Goblet of Fire is my favourite Harry Potter book so far! The book is basically about how Voldemort comes back to power, and how, in an attempt to capture Harry, Voldemort jynxes the "Triwiazard Tournament" (an event in which Wizards step forward to test themselves against difficult challenges) to lure Harry to him. The book typically features lots of action, as you would expect from any of the books, aswell as some romance and lots of magical touches (such as Quidditch and the challenges Harry must face in the tournament, aswell as the Yule Ball event and Harry's developing crush on Cho Chang) that have become a trait of J.K. Rowling' books. An amazing read this, you won't be disapointed and I can't wait to see this hit the big screen! (The book is so big, the movie may need to be made into two parts!).

matt youve read the 5th book but not the 4th???? makes no sense does it! cant u read it ur self man??

In the Goblet of Fire many complex and exciting things happen.

It starts with a flashback of Voldemort who is slowly gaining power in Albania, killing a muggle gardener. It is a flashback Harry sees although he refuses to pay to much attention to it.

To begin with Harry spends his summer at the Dursleys'. He then goes to the Weasleys' to watch the Quidditch world cup final. This is where we first get a mumur that the Death Eaters He then goes back to Hogwarts ready for another school year. He then hears about Mad Eye who is an old retired famous Auror. Mad-eye is obessed with catching Death Eaters. In Mad-eyes classes they learn to repel the deadly three apart from of course the instant death spel, Avadra Kedrava.

As Quidditch is their main sport, they soon are shocked to hear it's cancelled! But to be replaced by 'The Triwizard Tournament', which is a extrememly tough tournament. It is competed between three schools, Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. To enter you have to be over 17 with the winning prize being 1000 Galleons. As you can expect Harry is somehow entered into the tournament, which shocks and annoys many people who believe that Harry has tried to gain more of a celebrity status.

As the Triwizard tournaments Harry is apprehensive although predictably he recieves help although its subtle help. The first task is with Dragons which he passes flying colours. Amazingly enough he has to tackle the hardest Dragon!

Slowly but surely he goes through the year without too many problems and is lying joint second when the final task begins. The final task is a maze with many obstacles such as the Boggart. He then gets towards then end when he has to help Cedric. They then argue over who should take the cup, before finally deciding to take it together. Although the cup has been made into a portkeyn which takes them to the ceremony of Voldemorts return. Cedric is then killed befor Harrys very eyes. Wormtail then takes the blood of

Harry so he can ressurect his beloved master. Whilst Voldemort is returning to power, his Death Eaters begin to apparate near him in order to apoligise for there denial of him, when he was forced into hiding. He forgives them and asks them to join him in his greates accomplishment yet, the death of Harry Potter. Although, when Voldemort attempts to kill Harry, Harry attempts to disarm him. Their spells meet in contact and form an unlikely bond caused because they have the same feather tail from the same Phoenix who turns out to be Dumbledores', Because this happes a protective shield appears over them causing it to keep out the Death Eaters, Harry eventually wins the battle causing ghost like shadows of the victims of Voldemorts wand to appear, this is quite a touching moment. Harry then breaks the connection and runs for his life. He drags Diggory back with him to the portkey and eventually ends up back at the maze.

When he is back, panic runs amok between the students when they see the dead body of Cedric. In the panic Mad-eye drags Potter off to his room. This is where we learn that Mad-eye is actually Barty Crouch Jr. He is infact a follower of Voldemort. He attempts to kill Harry who is unwell and drowsy, but fortunately Dumbledore saves Harry, then amok the panic and confusion Crouch is killed. This gives Dumbledore no chance to prove to Fudge that Voldemort has returned. Fudge scoofs at the idea, hench the creation of the Order.

Yes, I know I have left out many points but I cannot be bothered to carry on writing.

I'm not sure if anyone explained what the goblet is! (sorry im too lazy to read about something I've read like 2000000 times)
The goblet is a for the triwizard tournament. It selects the 3 students who will be participating in the tournament. Somehow is knows who is worthy and makes sure only one student from each school is selected. Dumbledore puts an age line around the Goblet so no one under the age of 17 can put their name in.

Ok you guys know at the end of the GOblet of fire, HErmione kissed harry on the cheek for the first time but not Ron! DO you guys think that was relavent. I don't know it is just a random thought.

I think it is definetly relevent! It shows that she's nervous and doesn't know what to do around Ron!!! Ron and hermioe should have hooked up in the 5th book.. o well there's always the next book! AND the one after that! woohoo!
I think the kiss to Harry was just a friend kiss. She didn't blush or anything afterwards. Yea...they're just friends.

Lol I must have spent one and a half pages of telling the story without mentioning the Goblet! Anyway, you did so now he will know.

um i hav got the goblet of fire book its just wasnt appelin to me wen i bought it soo i didnt read it. But i am soon. I wanted 2 read the fith book b4 cuz its new and it sounded so exciting.

This actually wasn't one of my favorite HP books. I still really liked it but I kinda felt like it carried on for too long in some parts.

is this the 1 with the quiddich world cup? (pretty sure it is!)

but what type of muggle clothes? any scenes where they wear white button up shirts and ties means they probably took off their robes. If you watch the movies (1 & 2) you'll see that they wear button up shirts and ties under their hogwarts robes. Maybe they take them off for whatever they are doing in that class. We've only seen one 1 1/2 minute trailer...i think it's a bit early to assume they aren't going to be wearing their robes.

i mean in POA not just in da trailer but in da pics of dem while dey were filmin n stuff!

It doesn't say in the book what they wear under thier hogwarts robes so maybe the new director thought this would be better but its stupid to change it half way thru. It should be one or the other

well, I assume Hogwarts is the same as any other british boarding school... you only have to wear uniform during school hours... and their confrontation with black takes place AFTER school... where they would be allowed to wear their own clothes...

i thought it was silly in the 1st 2 how they were always in there school robes and unifrom EVEN AT DIAGON ALLEY. They should have done it this way from the beginning but i suppose it isn't the new directors fault

Excellent point Phoe and you too Luna. IMO everyone is getting too into the information that we have about the new movie. If i learned anything growing up, it's never to expectsomething to be a certain way, because 98% of the time you're going to be let down. I'm sure the clothing is going to be of little importance in this new movie.

umm i herd theres a new director n i think they wear muggle clothes but they wear the robes over them, i wish it would come out sooner cant wait

I liked this book...#3 and #5 were my faves, but #4 was up there...I really like the TriWizard Tourny...I will be interested to see how the dragons come out on film and the lake too...Plus you get introduced to some really cool characters....Mad Eye Moody (even tho...well, you know) and Fleur and all the other kids from the other schools...plus, you really get to know Sirius in this one...grow to love him...

The Quidditch World cup will be cool to see too...the book is really involved...a lot is covered in one year! I fear that they will chop it up in the movie just because it's so long...

GoF schould be the most expensive movie ever, i hope they'll put the money into the right places...

I'm 15 pages into this book. I read 1-3 in about a months worth of time, last month and this month. I'm silly for this Potter thingie. I like how book four starts out so far at Tom Riddle's old house with Voldemort and Wormtail. Very good stuff, very nice. Very nice.
