In the scene in ENTER THE MATRIX,
after Niobe and Ghost meet the Keymaker,
they are in the hallway and Cain and Abel come in and steel the key from him to unlock the door to the source.
Well they only do things out of orders of the Merovingian, so he ordered them to retrieve the key, the merovingian knows all, so he also must no that the key can only be used to open the door if you are the one,
it will not work otherwise...\
well if the merovingian was one of the previos the one's,
would he still be able to open the door to the source?
Is that what he wanted to do?
Maybe he wants another chance with the architect or something...

If Merrovingian is one of the previous one, how come he is still alive??? If he is, than where is he plugged in and all the previous ones did not know love, but MErrovingian is married to Persephone. So to answer one of your questions, Merrovingian is not a previous one and should not be able to open the door to the source.
