I would have to say I expect Dumbledore for year six. He was the only one to effectivly fight Voldemort, so it only makes sense that he would be able to teach the most appropriate spells and counters. I hope that's what happens because maybe that would explain a little more about Dumbledore being so powerful.

Lupin should come back, but if he won't...well they could always give Snape a try just to see how good he is with the job *shrug*

He will TRUST TONKS! TONKS rescued Harry from Privet Drive with everyone else. HE WILL TRUST HER! She is good. I really think it will be her. We are due for a good teacher again like Lupin and Snape is supposedly going to fall in love...TONKS fits!

i cant imagine snape falling in love be fun to watch thogh i think tonks would be a good choice because shes sassy and patient and seems very nice just what you need for a defence teacher plus shes cool and not a fuddy duddy.

i think snapes going to get it but die in the end because voldemort will find out he's a spy for dumbledore. tonks would be a good person and might fall in love with snape but that would be just to wierd

I think it is not Snape because he still bear grudges.. dumbledore will feel he is not ready to teach DADA....I think Lupin refuse to come back to teach......I think it will be a new teacher, a new character....

Nope...I stand firm with Tonks...she didn't have a big role in the last book...so I DEFINITELY see her character development int he future...besides....I see her becomiing DADA...Snape not getting jeolous like he usually does FOR ONCE...but getting intrigued and he will fall for her...but I don't think she will fall for him....... JK did say Snape would fall in love...BUT didn't say whether he would be loved back!!

I will have to find out where that was in her interview...so I will have somethign to back me up

okay snape is totally emotional...but i would say hatred is his fav emotion....but i think hes extremely depressed....i mean when harry saw his memories like his 'rents fighting and a girl laughing at him it shows hes sad i feel really bad for him even though hes an evil greasy haired grossness...i dont think snape and mcgonigal will get together..shes like 40 years older than him and even though it wouldnt be it should be considered pedophilia....aaah now im picturing it!!! *barf*

i think that snape had it hard when he was little and through his teens so i think he toughened up and turned his emotions into hatred i think tonks will be the new defence teacher

I don't think Snape is gonna get the job of the Defense Against the Dark Art cuz....well think about it............he is a Death Eater.....and that the reason why dumbledore never gave him the job (well I think that the reason)
Lupin would make a GReAT defense against the Dark arts...but lets face it...he is NOT comin back ................

I DONT THINK SNAPE IS A DEATHEATER...HE WAS...I THINK HE'S A DOUBLE AGENT, and this is why DUMBLEDORE TRUSTS HIM...I think he's spying on Lord V for him. You remember in book IV ( i think this was the book) when Dumbledore sent him on a mission, but never said what it was....well I think lord v still thinks that Snape is on his side, but REALLY he's not. I mean we would all love for Snape to be the bad guy..but he's not!

sirius (just an out there choice, if he didn't die and when he's finally been proven innocent and all...)

AND TONKS!! SHE IS A NEW AUROR!! And she is part of the Order. We were just introduced to her recently and she did not play THAT BIG of a part in book 5....so I definitely think she will play a MUCH bigger role in book 6. Like the DADA teacher! Plus its said to be heard that Snape will fall in love with someone(not that she would love him back) but Snape usually doesn't like the DADA teachers...and well it makes sense for it to be a younger woman who's got charisma, and a good character.. and Snape will not look at her in that awful loathing way...he will look at her in an inspired/loving way.....I think she would blow him out of the water. She is already in the order......but I am sure that her and Snape don't know much about each other........ I know she is young...but Snape could still want a younger woman..NOT that it would happen though.

OH AND SHE CAN'T be too close to the other kids ages...OR we would have heard about her in the books before. I think maybe she's 3 years older than percy.......maybe 5...we know she is young....... so I say over 20 and under 25.......will be her age..it never really was said her EXACT age in book 5......we were just told that she was young.

Well, first things first... I just saw someone whose Icon is "The Cheat", and that reminded me I haven't been to HomeStarRunner.com in a while, so i'll be right back... Okay, I'm back. That stunt double thing was hilarious...

But anyway, Harry getting killed off as the dying hero would be really cool, and so would he being the surviving hero... Kind of hard to decide which is cooler... Ah, whatever. The Defence Against the Dark Arts job should go to Snape, and the Potions job should go to one of the Weasley twins. (Imagine an entire class making skiving snackboxes!)

Malfoy might teach potions.....he is good at it....IF he doesn't cause ANY HUGE disasters....IF he did turn good...somehow..... and yeah..i could see Harry getting the DADA job.....but I know he wants to be an auror...but it would make sense for him to do it..b/c he knows all kinds of stuff....but this is if JKR will tell us after book 7...what exactly he did in life....etc.

lupins first name is remus, as in the legendary borther and cofounder of rome...jk uses ppls names for a reason, so if his name is remus, he prob has a brother named romulus...shes also said a student will come back and become a teacher, which is why the weasleys are a likely choice

There is actually a rumor floating around the web, that Lupins brother will be the new Defence teacher.

Well, then again doesn't Dumbledore always trusts Snape? therefore the issue of him being a death eater has nothing to do with Dumbledore selecting him for the job of DADA teacher because he already trusts him and Dumbledore was the one to clear Snape from the ministry's death eater list on his name...if Dumbledore hadn't used his good name to clear Snape, Snape would have gone to Azkaban! Isn't Dumbledore trusting Snape with most important and personal jobs anyway already?...as being a spy for him to Voltemort...and plus Snape is in the Order so that's gotta say something about how much Dumbledore trusts Snape.....and Snape showed to Dumbledore that he is willing to do things for him when he agreed to teach Harry Occluemency although it was painful because of memories from the past .............however, I do agree with you...I think that's it's rather weird that Dumbledore, for some reason, seems to refuse to give Snape the DADA teaching post! Although...............I would like to see Snape have the DADA teaching job for once like maybe in the seventh year but then again he is THE POTIONS MASTER! he's sooooo good at potions. Very true, i forgot about occlumency. I don't think she'd put snape as DADA teacher and personally i dont think she will for the whole series. Maybe so Harry will pass school :P

i liked Tonks a lot, but i don't think she'll be the DADA teacher.....She's an Auror and she'll probly be really busy now that Fudge knows that Voldemorts back and she also has to do things for the order.......

JK has stated in interviews that nobody will ever do the job twice in her novels. It's pretty obvious she meant it.

I'd love to see Bill Weasley do it. My suspicion is it will be somebody totally new in book 6.

I don't think Dumbledore works on demand like that. I know when I was prepubescent, the headmaster did do some teaching in order to keep in touch, but it doesn't appear to work that way at Hogwarts.

I like Professor Snape as a character and I'm sure he would be a great Auror, but he's definitely not a legitimately good teacher. He may be knowledgeable, but he's very bias and among other things.

yeah i think jkr said something on her site about that new dude was gonna be the new dada teacher. i highly doubt that lupin would go back to hogwarts now that his being a werewolf n all is out n the open & besides hes in the order now & has too many other things to do for dumbledore w/out having to teach a bunch of kids

hey i'd like to teach it! but i also think that snape would be a good pofess. i mean, he was a death eater, wasn't he? so he is the one who best knows what Voldemort is up to. but then they would need a new potions proffessor. dumbledore is a good option, but ther's his age to consider. I think they should give this job to Mad Eye.
