OK so from the way i understand it The Matrix encompassas the whole world right? All the continents, countries, everyting, because the machines took over. What i cant understnd is why are nearly every Zion resident American. You dont see one British, Australian, French or German person in or out the Matrix. OK so fair enough there are plenty of Asian people about with shaved heads, but why no Europeans??????

Actually, with the rebels out in the field, fair enough, but the Council appeared to be a diverse representation of cultures.

yeah, i'm missing what you're seeing. in zion i saw people from every possible continent. especially when they all confront neo by the elevator.

whaddya mean no europeans? how could you tell, unless you heard each and every person's accent that was in zion? or do you just mean white people? in that case, i think zion represented a fair proportion of the world by having minorities as the majority.

and i don't think nationalities count as races, so don't worry about being racist. unless you did mean "white people" when you said "french, german, etc."

How would the europeans get there?How would they even know where zion is?

well in that case how would, the budda like people that greet Neo outside the lift get there as well? Besides you never see them inside the matrix running up walls jumping over buildings or whatever.

Well I did see many diverse people when they confronted Neo by the elevator, and anyways it seems that the people of Zion don't really consider the race issue since well we are all human and we are fighting the machines let us stick together as one. Honestly I dont see what people have against French people just because they did'nt want to go blow up some camel riders in Iraq, please dont talk about foreign nationalities like that its inpolite. After all if it were'nt for the French we would'nt have won the American Revolutino.

Also if it were'nt for the French then the Americans would'nt be so American either, you can only accomplish something like WWII or the destruction of the machines with unity, and that is what America, Britan and the French did along with 40 other countries...also about surrendering would you surrender to your destruction and the destruction of your people? I mean come on France is the most rich in the art and etc. they would give all that up to the Germans just because they would fight on a meanigless battle? Would you rather die or surrender? Well to keep this matrix related, the French in the matrix sure do suck. They never won a war in there life. The best they could do was draw 3 times French history. They did help out in the revolutionary war against the british, so that is one plus, but that is really all I can think of right now.

You would think the machines would be smart enough to only have french people in the matrix then they would never win a battle against the machines.

hmmmmm........you see many American's and Asians but not other nationalities eh?..............this has already been brought up but unless you hear each person's accent, how do you know if they are American, German, French, or Swedish?

It did sound a bit racist as the majority of Zion are either black or asian........both races outnumber white people in Zion. Am I to assume that since you listed Americans and Asians in your original post that you believe the black people of Zion to be American? There are plenty of black people in Europe..........alot of black people in the U.K. in particular. Sure, the negro race is not native to Europe........you must remember that it is not native to North America either. By your postulating, wouldn't it be more fair for you to say there are more Africans and Asians in Zion? ..........I say Africa because you seem to judge the people's nationalities based soly on their physical appearance....as you referred to "asians"...........ok, the people look polynesian.......that doesn't mean they are from Asia. Every "asian" looking person in Zion could have been born in Norway or Canada for all we know.

Basically.........you equate being polynesian with being Asian......as that is their native land

This must mean that you equate being negro with being African......as Africa is their native land

I really don't see where the "American" part of the question comes into play at all.

I think the most important question is where exactly is zion location? Is there a europe left? Cos Europe and U.S. are seperated by an ocean. How would they cross it?

Kid has a point. I haven't heard a single non american accent in Zion. But thats neither here nor there. However it is an american made movie, so they probably thought there was no point to putting in foreigners. Also maybe Wachowski's made everyone have an american accent for a reason. Who knows...

There's a Brit in "Matriculated". When talking to the main female character (I forget her name) about the monkey-creature thing she says "Dreaming already?" and it sounds very Poshbrit to me.

Well when they wake up they need somebody to pick hem up and help them recover. Sice the one is the person that choses the 26 (or something) to rebuild zion I don't see how there can be any other city.
