Has somebody ever seen a French movie and either want to talk about it, really liked it, or really hated it...
I'm listening .

Godshinto
I've once seen a French movie Badly dubbed over it was a sick raunchy movie. I LIKED IT! I've also seen a movie with French Aliens in it ever hear of it I think it's called KungPow Enter the Fist

yerssot
agree, 8 femmes was horrible imho
they tried to make fun of it all, but I really disliked it

G.P
http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/confused1.gif So? Good impression ?

To me it was very good smile ...but it's interesting to see how french movies are perceived abroad, especially this one with his soundtrack and his sort of 'traditional' look...

yerssot
Have no info about KungPow being French...

G.P
Neither do I... I have just seen a cow that knows kung-fu...maybe it's a French one...

8 femmes : haven't seen it... why was is horrible ?

yerssot
combo of cluedo-like, musical, bad acting, horrible music, bad storyline

ChinaNiki
Cyrano de Bergerac was great. I saw it in Nice when it came out. It was sooo cool, not like the adulterated version we had in Roxanne with Steve Martin.

MildPossession
8 Women is fantastic! doesn't have bad acting in for gods sake. Cast full of some of the best French actresses having fun with a camp musical.

It's based on a play, haven't read it myself, but it's one of my all time favourite musicals.

And yes, I am a big fan of French films.

Dr. Strangelove
The 400 Blows. Loved it. big grin

MildPossession
Truffaut films are excellent. The Last Metro is good.

Ignite
i saw this one about a boy who dressed up in girls clothes...

Yeah, I've seen The 400 blows, antoine and colette, and stolen kisses from The Adventures of Antoine Doinel Criterion Collection box set, which might I add is an amazing DVD set.

big gay kirk
Nikita.... best assassin flick ever..... Delicatessen.... absolutely brilliant...

Corran
Nikita was a good assassin flick, not sure it was the best ever - I thought Leon (The professional) was better.

Cyrano de Bergerac was and still is one of my favourite movies - Gerard Depardieu was very good in this. Has anyone seen the original?

I've seen others but not an awful lot spring to mind.

dizzyblondegirl
have you seen the film La Haine great film

...except "Fahrenheit 451", heh.

MildPossession
Of course. It's a fabulous French film and one of my favourites. I'm surprised if a film fan of French films hasn't seen it. Have you seen the version with the colour added onto scenes?

Have yet to see the English film he made. Apparently it had a lot of problems between the cast and crew on set when making it.

mike5622

I just saw the sequel to a good Jean Reno film, "The Crimson Rivers". It's called "The Crimson Rivers: Angels of the Apochalypse". It's a pretty good movie, then again Jean Reno is one of the best actors alive.

"Wasabi" is a hillarious Jean Reno movie.

MildPossession
The Crimson Rivers is far superior to the second film, but at least the second film had some nice sequences in it and the music score was fabulous.

Wasabi is fantastic!

pinsleepe
I saw Tanguy yesterday. It was ok. Nothing special, but I liked it. As I have problems with original titles: Chocolate? I'm not sure. With Depp. Awesome movie. I cried.

But I cried even at Ghost Busters. I was very tired stick out tongue

G.P

yerssot
say GP; do movies from the Walloon area count too?

G.P

G.P
Oh, and since I named some French movies in the Movie recommandations thread, I can put them there as well. I'll make complete reviews later.

French films released in 2004 :

- Mondovino (though it's a French-Italian-American-Argentinian film) : about the wine today all over the days. The things at stake...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411674/

- A tout de suite, nice film in black and white about a Parisian wealthy girl that falls in love with a robber and get abandoned in Morocco while they escape...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407342/
http://www.cinemaguild.com/atoutdesuite/

- Rois et Reine : "Parallel storylines tell the current state of affairs for two ex-lovers: Nora's a single mother who comes to care for her terminally ill father; holed in up in mental ward, Ismael, a brilliant musician, plots his escape" (imdb)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344273/

yerssot
well, nothing good comes from belgium anyway wink

there was a movie about a crew following a hitman (a lousy one even), twas in black & white. Think it was french?

G.P

yerssot
It's made in 2004? then I think of an older one messed

sour_chery
Recently Ive seen a collection of french films, and all of them were good, but by far the best were the two films 'La Chevre' and 'Les comperes'. Great cast, great plot, great jokes, and great music!!!!!!! It was a beauty of film making

Rapscallion
My favorite french movie was Au Revoir Les Enfants, but I also liked Cyrano de Bergerac and Les Diabolques.

You know I don't like French movies. Once, I saw three of them, one after another. They were so boring!

MildPossession
Not ALL french films are boring... What are these films you saw?

Ya Krunk'd Floo
The 'Three Colors' trilogy is stunning, but the best French movie I've seen is 'Betty Blue'...so hot, it hurts...

'La Haine' is good, too...

I don't remeber the names, but one movie was about women in jail. Maybe some of the French movies are good, but I personally haven't seen any good French movies. Can you recommend me some?

MildPossession
Go through this topic, there are lots of good French films to check out...

Rogue20
I liked 8 women. I thought that it was a really good movie. Plus Audrey Tautou comes out in it and she is one of my favorite actresses. I thought that some of the singing was a bit over the top but, other than that I really enjoyed the film. smile

MildPossession
Tautou is not in 8 Women... still 8 Women is good, enjoyed it.

Urgh indeed, I absolutely adore Blue.

Eis

Zebra 3
The only French language films I like are Canadian.

You have watched a WHOLE LOT, but can't remember one name...

Urgh of course the French films are better, the remake was horrendous. Go watch the Taxi trilogy, well worth it. Besson is going to do a fourth French Taxi film too, can't wait for it.

Jen-R
Okay, who is Marion Cotillard's character? Good guy? Bad guy? What?

I was a little bummed out when i saw her name was never listed to be in the 4th. sad

Did her character like DIE or something?

jaden101

MildPossession
A Short Film About Killing, The Double Life of Veronique and obviously the Colours trilogy. Haven't seen a lot of his directed work, but want to see more. Hell is also good, but think he did the writing for this one.

Gaca
you may find them a bit hard to get but do see the decalogue (sp?)

a short film about love and a short film about killing are parts of it.

of course, these are no more FRENCH movies stick out tongue

other french movie i love and recall right now is Delicatessen

fortdecafe
If there are some people who have still avoided my poll and who are interested in French cinema, please take two minutes to give your opinion!

I cant remember too much about it other than the begining with the Santas was very creepy and that i liked it
I may give it a 2nd look this week.

Solo
It's probably one of the more mainstream foreign films. It's pretty decent, nonetheless.

thats hilarious, if u think about it. lol

Pandemoniac
Haven't seen that many, but just about every French movie I saw really impressed me. They seem to be more realistic and intense that the average. And those French sure know how to make action movies, without cramming them full of CGI effects.
Stuff like Crimson Rivers and District 13 puts hollywood to shame in that genre.

MildPossession
Argh I adore Crimson Rivers, excellent film. Was not so keen on District 13, still had some good scenes though.

LÉONpro2007
was D13 a good movie? i know its supposed to have some insane fighting scenes. :P

my Video store never got it sad

okay and another question. (my sig) has anyone seen Dikkenek, and is it funny?

I saw a video of Marion, on YouTube or something and i laughed my ass off.

TricksterPriest
I saw this topic, read it through, and was very shocked. NO ONE MENTIONED MELVILLE?! eek! Jean-Pierre Melville definitely belongs in this conversation. Le Samourai, Le Cercle Rouge, Army of Shadows, etc. How can you guys have missed him? blink

LÉONpro2007
I've never seen his movies sad

i'm sorry.

manorastroman
it's not like melville is the only luminary missing. malle, bunuel, rohmer, rivette...

Bonie

I don't think it was like every other heist film. Every other heist film tries to be like it.

MildPossession
Seen three, the fourth one is out in French cinemas at the moment.

Two is my favourite out of the first three Taxi movies.

LÉONpro2007
HAHA!

i want to see it for more scenes like this one, lmao

I totally agree with you,
have you seen 5x2 / Five Times Two

The JenR
French movies have this type of action humor in them from the way they're shot. I can't describe the humor, i wish i could. some German movies have it, too.

Hello Guys

I really need your help here.

2 years ago i watched a french movie...which i kindda liked...but damn i dont remember the title...i really wanna find it so i'm gonna say some things about the plot hoping that someone will help me out find that movie.

The movie starts with a guy in a strip club starring at a hot girl...they talk after a while...i think they got married but i'm not sure... i think he chose that girl because she lookes a lot like his dead wife...next thing i remember..she had a big scar on her body (maybe she got blind too ) after her husband set up an accident for her. I also remember they had a boy and a dog and for some reason they cut off dogs penis.

I know this sounds pretty confused and meaningless...but if someone has watched that movie he'd remember these stuff....

So if you know what movie this is, please contact me [email protected]

Thank you!

Blinky
Just saw Alphaville again, last noche. This movie is so f*cking good. Anybody else a fan?
