In the first Matrix Morpheus talked about how it's pointless to fight Agents because you'll lose. But in the first movie and M:R Morpheus fights Agents. Why would he go against his own words. Neo fighting Agents is understandable(sp) but anybody else.... It makes no sense.

in the 1st film Morpheus fought Agent Smith so that the others had enuff time 2 get Neo out

he never said that, cypher did. he said, matter-of-factly, that no one has fought an agent and won. but he encouraged neo by saying he believed neo would have no problem against them.

as for him fighting agents . . . like korri said, he had to. he believed in neo so much that he had to divert agent smith in m1. and in m2 he knew the importance of the keymaker, and he knew he couldn't let the agents get to him. morpheus values the resistance more than his own life. "wouldn't that be worth fighting for? wouldn't that be worth dying for?" are his own words from m2.

Yes, it is pointless to try and overcome us, insipid coppertops.
