CaptainHaldir
so if you all knew me better.... you would know im like INSANELY hooked on lord of the rings..... so i wanna know what collections other people have...

i wish u all could see my room, its covered in mainly LOTR.... my collection is huge. I have an autographed fellowship poster framed, i have the directors cut of fellowship on DVD (the box set)... i have the two towers on DVD. I have the origional paperbcks of the trilogy and the hobbit and the simarallion. My walls are covered in posters from the first 2 movies. I have the entire two towers action figure set in a showcase, and i have cardbord cut outs from movie adds... i also have replica's of arwens sword, aragorns sword, frodos sword, gandalfs sword, legolass bow and gimlis axe...... ( still need the witchkings) and how i have this much money to spend you might ask? variety of things; paychecks, presents, christmas etc.... LOL.

YAY! Im just sooooooooooo excited.... I went to the two towers on the midnight showing on the very first part of the first day coming out... and i get to do the same for return of the king.

by the way.... anyone live in oregon? portland maybe?

chica16
wow my collection is no where near that good lol... i did go to midnight showing of TTT, and i will for ROTK. I have like 4 diff types of the books, i have some of the action figures, a legolas t-shirt, and a keychain hahaha, i'm about to start back to school so i haven't been working so i have no money right now lol...

undomiel
I have a bunch a posters and the ROTK one
but I have much more than that smile

turin
wow that was quite the collection. This is probably the thread that is going to solidify our geekyness for sure, lol. well i have a couple posters, sting and glamdring, sideshow bust, every book from jrr and chris tolkien, audio books of silm. and LOTR, both dvd's of FOTR and a 2 towers dvd, Both PS2 games, plus a bunch of art work i did of the characters and stuff. I remember thinking how geeky it was but it kept balooning till i looked like a freak to people that came into my room, hehehe. I am really looking forward to the swords that are coming out here soon, but i think i should probably try and refrain from any more of them. also there is a ton of ps2 and computer games coming out that i am sure i wont be able to stop myself from getting.

Sifer
Fini: What editions of the books do you have?

Isilwen Took

Mithrael
I have Trading Cars, the movies, both extended and regular version on both vhs and dvd. I have a sword with an elvish name to it, I do archery....I speak Sindarin Elvish, and write it. I am writing a fan fiction that is about 12 pages in length and isn't even halfway done yet, I have a Sindarin Dictionary on both my computer and in a book. I have read the trilogy twice and own Them, including the Hobbit, I own, The Silmarillion, Return of the Shadow, the War of the Ring, The languages of Tolkien's Middle Earth, The Treason of Isengard, and I bought a Light up Sting from Walmart so my boyfriend can bring it to the Theaters when we dress up, and yes, I even have a boyfriend who looks liek a Hobbit. Seriously..looks like a Hobbit. He's got more curly hair than any hobbit I've seen. Oh, and I am growing my hair out to elven length for the Rotk movie, and I've got almsot 20 people going with me the night it comes out..one is coming all the way from Ohio just to be with us and Dress up. Here's the character's I can think of at the moment, who's going with us.
Eowyn
Dernhelm (and Eowyn in desguise!)
Arwen and Aragorn
Galadriel
Frodo
Gandalf the White
A Rohan Shieldmaiden
Mithrael (my own elven Mirkwood Character)
Celeblaith (another Mirkwood elf)
The Witch King.

And we're still deciding on other people's costumes because we've run out of things for people to dress as.

Oh and I've made Lembas and Honey Butter, 'tis quite good.
I own both the Soundtracks, I have two Legolas Posters, and own a Frodo poster. I am a ruler of Mirkwood on a Lotr Roleplaying forum, and constantly Roleplay over Aim.
I go out in the woods sometimes with my Boyfriend and we take puctires in my elven costume, which I made every single little piece of! It consists of Brown Boots, a gray cloak, (ok so I didn't make the riding pants) I have dark grey riding pants...or brown, whatever I choose that particular day. a Belt..yea I made the belt. I made my own Gauntlets..out of nice warm leather fabric. I'm in the process of making a hairpiece for myself. and I made my own Quiver.

With Lord of the Rings, Obsession is an Understatement.

Oh and one more thing..I even talk elvish to people even if they don't understand it...and I've watched the Fellowship so many countless times..that I can quote and write every last word to it. I've got quite an extensive knowledge of EVERY last bit of History and race of Middle Earth. And Just plain out Anything About Middle-Earth and Tolkien in General.

Oh and another thing. My mother is the Hieght of Frodo...I think..he was ..like 4ft 10 right? Cuz My mom has curly hair and she's 4ft 10..whereas my dad is 6ft..So I'm always off telling people I'm half hobbit half Elf.

turin
wow, thats quit a bit. i try and hide my afinity for LOTR but you put it all right out there, nice. frodo's height is quit a bit shorter then 4'10" if i remember right, merry and pippen grew to be around 4'6" which was huge for a hobbit (they drank the ent draught). thats impressive you speak sindar, i wish i had the motivation to learn it.

Mithrael
Ohh..I know about Merry and Pippin..in Fact I tell my Boyfriend he Drank Ent Draught and that's the only reson he doesn't look like a normal Short Hobbit. heehee..oh and I forgot one more thing..I rule on another forum, Mirkwood Again..as you can tell I have thing for it...and I have a little Aragorn Action Figure..^_^

Mithrael
Oh and one more thing..I even have about five Aim and Email's Lotr Related. The one I use more commonly is Mirkwood Elf 7 and Silvan Elf 7 ...and the Email is ElvenLight ..HobbitAtHeart..something of the Like.

And my one other friend from San Diego is flying out here to watch the Premiere of Return of the King with us and is also dressing up.

Isilwen Took
wow.. that a huge list! I'm very happy to have found something crazy as me! My friends are calling me Isilwen (Lady of the Moon) but also Arwen.. And i speak Quenya (learning it).. My room is covered in poster and i don't know where to put them! I've write the runes of Moria's doors on my room' door. I've made a cloak. I place my hair Elf-like and i LOVE my Ring... Preciouss... I'm writing 3 fanfictions (and other will come) And Faramir, Legolas and Gimli's actions figures. And the map. I'm actually learning people's family by heart...

Frodo's 4'2''.. Just in case...

How do you make Lembas??? I would like to made it...
Namarie Quendendil! Nai in elen cala varya le!

hrh_jennifer
I don't know if I've got as much as you guys, I definitely haven't got any swords or jewelery 'cos I can't afford them, but I really want the Evenstar, Nenya and Sting!

O.K. this is what I have got:
about 4 posters from Fellowship
2 posters from TTT
a really huge WHSmith display poster...can you believe they were going to throw it away?!
action figure of Aragorn from Fellowship
the four sets of movie cards
the Lord of the Rings book
the Silmarillion
The book of unfinished tales
The hobbit
the hobbit illustrated by Alan Lee
the LOTR illustrated by Alan Lee
The FOTR collector's box set
lotr radio production
scripts for FOTR, FOTR extended, TTT
both soundtracks (although I got TTT limited edition one, so I want the FOTR limited ed. to match)
loads of magazine cuttings
LOTR animated 1978
hobbit animated
ROTK animated
and CDs of all the trailers, documentaries and screensavers from the official site and all over the internet.

Wow, that is quite a bit actually, and yet my room doesn't look like a shrine to LOTR, does admitting this make me extremely sad?!!!

Fire
hmmm not to attack anyone but imo lotr never was about action figures, posters special editions or anything like that...
that all came later on as purely commercial gain.
I'm glad they made the movies cause now the stories can touch so many more ppl who do not want to read.

but all other stuff is really just commercial gain imo and I don't want to participate in any of it.

All I have are 3 fellowship posters my friends gave me,
two copies of LOTR (one special belgian edition) (one very old edition which was from my grandmother)
FOTR DVD, FOTR extended DVD
TTT VHS (didn't want to spend the money on the normal DVD anymore)

BTW Mithrael you ever did a LOTR LARP?

hrh_jennifer
I agree, it is all about financial gain and all the merchandising is so not what my love of LOTR is about, everything that I have I use to remind me of the books when I haven't time to read them and I think that it is a good thing to immerse yourself in the world of LOTR as the books have such a profound message. I don't think anybody here is collecting LOTR to fatten the wallets of the big cheeses in Hollywood, they are collecting the merchandise because it brings them closer to Middle Earth, because they want to keep souvenirs of what is ultimately a part of cinematic history or maybe just because they want to, and personally I don't think there is anything wrong with that. big grin

hrh_jennifer
P.S. isn't everything these days about commercial gain to someone, you participate in it whenever you buy anything, don't you? Just a thought?!

Fire
maybe

but when I buy something I usualy need it
if I would buy something I don't need then I'd hate myself for it

and sometimes I don't mind the commercial gain, like of JRR was still alive and a part of every lotr product would go to him I wouldn't mind cause he bloody well earned it but he isn't so, no buying for me

TheJewlods
All i have is the ring.. my mom found it on the track one day when she was walking eek!

Dark_Queen
all of u have LOTR collections that make me envious! i dont have any of that stuff..only the theatrical DVDs for FOTR & TTT.and ill be getting ROTK of course.oh,ive also got the FOTR soundtrack lol. But i have a really old copy of LOTR that everyone has now read in my family.).i think the book has more value than all these commercial products.but then again i can understand why u guys get so obssessed-the book & ideas and the worlds and races are so fantastic!!!!!!big grin

Fire
hehe I agree the book itself has more value than any other product

Dark_Queen
it sure does, but its funny how people have gone so far as to buy repilcas of the swords-thats what im worried about:0

turin
why you worried about people buying the swords? i agree with you though the books are the most valuable just because they are the true vision of tolkiens work, not PJ's. though PJ's vision is in my opinion probably pretty acurate, but still not the original.

Lady Ellie
Yep, you are so right!

Sifer
Indeed, my collectors editions are all worth triple the value each now from when I bought them smile

Isilwen Took
Wow! Your mom's very lucky! I'd like my mom to find Sting on the track.. that would be cool, won't it? wink

turin
watch out, just finding a ring on a track by chance seems very suspect to me, perhaps you were meant to find the ring, and that is a very incouraging though, j/k......

Fire
lol

undomiel
Im getting the evenstar smile

Fire
good for you smile

undomiel
thanx smile

Anybody collects the LOTR miniatures by Games Workshop (Warhammer)?.. I do. And believe me, it's a great way to relive the scenes on the movies.

Exa
I havent got so many filmfan-stuff, more books... but I dont even know what exactly I have big grin

I mean, I have tons and tons of pictures, posters and articles and nearly all of my free space on my computer is used for LoTR-stuff, but miniatures or something.

Ive also got the One (silver), loads of stickers and calendars and stuff, but the main things of my collection are my 26 (or 27??) books by and about Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings, CDs - Soundtrack and TolkienOrchestra - , and my collection of about ten of my LoTR-cinema-tickets big grin

My parents think I'm totally crazy spendin all my money on LoTR-stuff... most of the books are soooo expensive sad
