Rhubarb Man
I dont know why, but I really find that mechanical drum beat in the background keeping the rythm effective. Although T2 had normal drums, theres something about the first movie's tune that makes it sound more...how shall I put it, terminator like? Machine like, regular, and continous

alic88
i liked the t2 one more actually.

DeNiro
i dont even know if they had music in the thrid one i was too busy looking at the TX's ass...

alic88

DeNiro

ragesRemorse
aww man there great, if you liked terminator theres great chance youd like them but of course LOTR and Star wars does require a certain taste of movies to appeal to you there atleast worth a look great directing and script writing if you watch aliens only watch the first two youd be better off having a hammer taken to your skull than watch alien 4 or ressurection

alic88
o k i'll keep that in mind

According to the documentary included on the Ultimate Edition of T2, composer Brad Fiedel was called upon by director James Cameron to use the same main theme as T1 and nothing else. He improved on the main theme with that full-orchestral sounding intro in the movie, and included some acoustic guitar with the desert scene. Also let's not forget to appreciate the perpetual, droning sound accompanied by an uptempo drums beat during chase scenes with the T1000.

The man actually shied away from synthesizers, he revealed, and instead tried to incorporate real sounds from real instruments, and then altering them. For example, he would take an A above middle C and lower it three octaves for T1 whenever the terminator took a hit and got up again. It's subliminal, but amidst the chaos of the movies the instruments carry a haunting, human quality to the soundtrack.

thats interesting, when you hire genuises you get genius work

I'm probably gona get bombed for this, but I actually liked T3 a bit better than T2 and I really find that drum beat the same in all 3 movies. It's really good and I don't know, it gives a hero feeling.

alic88
t3 is a very good movie. i still think that its not in the league of the first2, but stilll, i really liked teh story, action.great 2 c arnie back

The soundtrack to T3 was terrible and totally did not fit Terminator. They need Brad Fiedel just as much as they need James Cameron for it to be a real Terminator film.

alic88
i agree. brad is DA MAN

I personally love that very short theme used in the previous Terminator movies. Infact, being a piano player, I noticed while playing the song it has a lot of passion

bad banana
Being a fellow pianist I believe it would be nearly unnecessary to add that whether or not a piece has "a lot of passion" depends totally on the player. Imagine a robot playing the piano - granted he was given nimble enough fingers to not break the keys; there would be no emotion.

I have indeed experimented a lot with playing the main theme (I play it in a minor) on a synthesizer.

the synthesiszed verion of the theme in t1 is more realistic and more appropriate to the movie. The terminator after all is a synthesisezed human, made to mimic aspects of a human but it is observed after all that he is not. That was the point..to sound metalllic and robot like. The theme in t1 was better although i like the thems in t2 better than in t3. I have both soundtrcks and t3 i listended to it online and it is horrible. Anyone who prefers that garbage likely thinks t3 is th ebest, but it does nto fit the movie. And if anyone thinks it's not appropriate that the music fit the movie why are so many people missing the theme, because of thr feeling it generates. In t2 they softened it, becuase arnold was good and they wanted a different evil sound for a differnent evil terminator and yet they didn't want you to know who was evil yet either so they wer BOTH TONED DOWN. if we saw du du du duummp with arnold or t-100 we would have known who was evil. jc di that to surprise the audience and since there was no sex or lovve story in t2 and sarah was hardened, they did it to soften the movie. But lets not forget the sex scene music in t1 it was terrific.. the piano..the worse part was the ending of the police scene music in t1 and the mtorcylece, pickup scene music, other than than ti definitive edition is the best terminator soundtrack, the regular version was good to but you would have to have been hip with that era to lkt the tryanglz who did "burnin in the third degre" and i was still playing with legos during t1 and I still like that song. If we changed the clothing (not kyle or arnold) in t1 and the hairstylles (not kyle or arnold) and the club music and updated the eyeball scene and used the t1 special edition soundtrack, it could be a 2003 movie. (except everybdy expcets cgi which is really too bad cause the best effects ared one with lighitng and robotics and hydraulics)
