Respect The Prince of Persia!!!!!!!!

(please log in to view the image)

Yes. The Badass time manipulator has to get his respect.

The Events from his games:

Prince of Persia:
The game starts with the Sultan of Persia being called away to war in a foreign land. Sensing opportunity, the evil Vizier Jaffar seizes the throne for himself. The Prince is imprisoned, since Jaffar has designs on the Princess. The Princess is also imprisoned and she is given a choice with an hour to decide: marry Jaffar or die. The Prince has an hour to complete the game by saving the Princess and killing Jaffar.

The twist is that the game is played in real time, so the Prince must quickly complete the quest without breaks. On some platforms it is possible to save the game at the start of each level, though the time limit still applies. The only way to lose the game is by letting the time expire. If the Prince is killed, the game will restart from the beginning of the level, or in some levels, at a mid-way checkpoint.

The game also includes a power bar. Medium falls, blue potions, being hit by falling platforms, and sword hits take one bottle off the power bar, while major falls, being hit unarmed, falling or running on spikes and blades, kill the Prince instantly. The Prince can increase the number of bottles in his power bar by drinking larger red potions, usually hidden or in dangerous places, while the regular-sized Red magic potions restore one life each time they are consumed. There is also a green potion that made the Prince light-weight and one that made the screen flip around, depending on the level.

In the fourth level, the prince is forced to jump through a magic mirror that tears his soul apart from him, always leaving him with just one full bottle. The soul, depicted as a semi-transparent copy of the prince, leaves the screen and will appear in one of the last levels, with the sword drawn, fighting the prince. Since the prince cannot hurt his soul without getting hurt as well, he has to sheathe his weapon and rejoin his soul by walking into it. This also adds an extra bottle to the prince's power bar. In the game's last level, the Prince has to fight and defeat Jaffar, a master swordsman. The Prince is reunited with the Princess and all is well.

Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame:

Although 4 years elapsed between the making of Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, the world of the Prince goes through a few days alone. During these days, the Prince has a lot going for him. At first, he is hailed as the Hero who defeated the evil Jaffar. When he spurns all riches and asks for the Princess' hand in marriage as his reward, the Sultan rants and raves, but eventually he is moved by his dear daughter’s tears and pleadings, finally giving in to her wishes. The Prince and Princess are married and live happily – for eleven days.

In The Shadow and the Flame, Jaffar is brought back into action by an evil Witch who, for reasons not mentioned, hates the Prince. As the Prince enters the Palace gates on the eleventh day, he feels a strange, cold feeling seep through himself. His royal robes turn into that of the beggar he was, before he saved Persia. Even the Princess does not recognize him when he tries to speak to her – she orders her guards to treat him well, for he was "just a poor mad beggar!". And, out from the shadows, steps out the Prince – Jaffar who has taken over the Prince’s countenance as well as his role. With the Palace guards rushing him with drawn swords, the Prince has only one option – to jump through a large glass and flee the city by sea.

Unfortunately for the Prince, the ship in which he is a stowaway crashes and he finds himself on the beautiful shore of a foreign land. But not before a strange woman appears in his dreams and tells him to avenge his father. The strange woman keeps saying "Come to me!" throughout the game.

Halfway through The Shadow and the Flame, it is revealed to the Prince that he is really of Royal lineage. His father was killed and his mother had to cast him off, just before she was herself killed. The time to take revenge had come. Although not stated explicitly, the evil Witch appears to have been the one behind the Prince’s loss as well.

The rest of the game is vintage Prince of Persia: lilting background music, fluid animation, breath-taking graphics and environments, a Flying Carpet, a Flying Horse, Magic and Magic Potions.

The end of the game is when the Prince needs to shed his physical body and kill Jaffar as he plays hide-and-seek. A single bolt of the magical blue flame finishes Jaffar off, but the trick is to get it right – one has at most two attempts, before the blue flame sputters out... The Prince and Princess are once again united and the day is saved – for now

Prinde of Persia 3D:

Prince of Persia 3D starts with a belly dance: the Prince and his father-in-law have been invited by Assan, the brother of the Prince's father-in-law. The dance ends with the belly dancer killing the Prince's personal bodyguards and the Prince himself being imprisoned in Assan's dungeons. Apparently, the Princess' father, the Sultan, had promised long ago that the Princess would be given away in marriage to Assan's son, Rugnor...

Rugnor is an interesting creature: half man and half tiger, he is ruthless, cruel to the teeth and covets the Princess. He is also very powerful and a master Swordsman as well. The Prince has to escape from the dungeons and chase Rugnor, as he carries the Princess away. The Prince has to fight his way through several beautiful levels including the unique Dirigible levels. The game is also unique in the Prince of Persia series, in that the Prince has a choice of 4 weapons: the good old Sword, a long Staff for long-range combat, Double Blades for close combat and the Bow and Arrow (with various magical arrows).

The Prince almost manages to outwit Rugnor a few times too. In the final level, Rugnor sets a huge piece of machinery, a mechanical Gear as big as a room, to which he ties the Princess up. The Prince has about one-and-a-half minutes to fight and defeat Rugnor. If he is successful, the two are re-united and it is a happy ending. If not, the Princess is crushed by the Gears and the Prince lets himself be killed by Rugnor.

Prince of Persiamessedands of Time:

Passing through India en route to Azad, King Shahraman and his son, the Prince of Persia, defeat the powerful Maharajah of India with the promise of honor and glory. After looting the city and capturing a giant hourglass full of sand, a mysterious dagger, and the Maharajah's daughter Farah along with other treasures, they continue to Azad. A dying Vizier, who had betrayed the Maharajah and aided King Shahraman in return for a share of the spoils, demands to have the dagger, as he was promised his choice of the Maharajah's treasures. But Shahraman refuses to take the dagger from his son, who captured it first. So the Vizier, who wishes to harness the power of the Sands in the hourglass for himself, making him an immortal god and giving him control over time itself, tricks the Prince into opening the hourglass. When the Prince uses the dagger to unleash the Sands of Time from the hourglass, the Sands destroy the kingdom and turn all living beings into hideous sand creatures. Only the Prince, the Vizier, and Princess Farah, the kidnapped daughter of the Maharajah, remain unchanged due to their possessions; the Prince's dagger, the Vizier's staff, and Farah's medallion (there are a handful of unimportant survivors, such as two people who escape with Farah and a guard who assists you during the Azad defence system puzzle, who is possessed after his part).

On a journey to repair the damage he has caused, the Prince teams with Farah to return the Sands of Time to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives the Prince limited control over the flow of time. Before they reach their destination, the Prince and Farah form a romantic relationship. However, the Prince knows that Farah has every reason to hate him for conquering her people, and he suspects that Farah plans to steal the Dagger of Time from him. While the Prince sleeps, Farah does at a later time take the Dagger, as well as his sword, and attempts to return the Sands to the hourglass herself, leaving only her medallion behind with the Prince. When the Prince catches up with her, she is being attacked by sand creatures, and falls to her death through the ceiling of the hourglass chamber atop the Tower of Dawn before the Prince can save her.

Afterwards, the Prince uses the Dagger to return the Sands to the hourglass, and the timeline reverts to the point prior to the battle against the Maharajah. As a result, the relationship between Farah and himself is a memory that only he possesses. However, the Prince still has the Dagger in his possession, even in the past. He goes to find Farah, to warn her of the Vizier's treachery before the Sands are released, and to give her the Dagger of Time. At this point, it is revealed all of the Prince's narration in the menus and cut-scenes from the game were actually him recounting his adventures to Farah, in an attempt to warn her. But as the Prince shares his epic story with her, he is confronted by the evil Vizier, who still yearns for the Dagger, and eternal life.

After defeating the Vizier, and preventing the opening of the hourglass, the Prince offers the Dagger to Farah. She questions why he needed to invent such a fantastic story. After he responds with a coldly-received kiss, he rewinds time a moment and instead agrees with her, that it was just a story. As he leaves, she asks him his name, and is left dumbfounded when he tells her to call him "Kakolookiyam." [3], the name of a fairy-tale hero that Farah's mother told her stories about as a child and that only she would know of (in the previous timeline, Farah had explained the significance of this word to the Prince).

Prince of Persia :Two Thrones

The Two Thrones follows the second ending of Warrior Within, in which the Prince kills the Dahaka and successfully alters Kaileena's (The Empress of Time) fate. While on a ship en route to his home city of Babylon, the Prince tosses his magical medallion overboard, as he believes he no longer needs it. He has promised Kaileena that no harm will come to her in Babylon, but upon returning, he is horrified to find the city is burning and ravaged by war. His ship is attacked and he and Kaileena are thrown overboard. Kaileena is taken prisoner after drifting ashore.

After fighting his way through the city, the Prince discovers that as a result of his efforts on the Island of Time to prevent the Sands of Time from being created, the events of the original games never happened- the Vizier was never killed. Worse, he now possesses the empty hourglass, the Dagger of Time, and the magical staff. The Vizier is now in search of the Sands of Time, and has captured the Empress of Time to get them. Just as the Prince finds Kaileena, the Vizier kills her, and unleashes the Sands of Time, which strike and mutate the Vizier's lieutenants into hideous sand monsters. Then, by impaling himself with the dagger, the Vizier transforms into a terrifying immortal winged creature. The Prince is also struck by the Sands of Time, although the effects on him are not revealed until later in the story. The unleashed Sands of Time cause the palace to fall apart and collapse. The Prince falls as the floors collapse around him, but not before stealing the Dagger of Time.

Later, the Prince finds that the Sands of Time have split him into two personalities: his usual self, which although flawed strives to be good and noble; and the "Dark Prince" who represents the more cruel, avaricious, and arrogant aspects of his psyche, and is manifested as a bitter and cynical inner voice. Whenever the Dark Prince is dominant - in the absence of water, and when he is able to feed on the Prince's fear and anger - the Prince assumes his dark, corrupted form, although his mind remains intact. In his natural state, the corruption of the Sands is limited to a glowing wound on his left arm and shoulder, where the Sands had fused a razor-sharp chain weapon known as the "Daggertail" into his flesh. The Prince is alarmed to discover that the wound spreads further with each metamorphosis into the Dark Prince.

Meanwhile, the Vizier has transformed his army (and even some of the population of Babylon) into Sand monsters. While searching for a way to defeat the Vizier, the Prince once again encounters Farah, who does not remember him, and is surprised that the Prince knows her name. Although initially wary of the Prince, she agrees to help him defeat the Vizier.

As they travel together, the Prince continues to endure the inner struggle between his noble aspirations (which resonate with the brave and compassionate Farah, who is also developing feelings toward him) and the Dark Prince, whose voice is a constant reminder of the Prince's darker tendencies. The Prince's growing affection for Farah compels him to embrace a more selfless perspective, beginning with concern for Farah and developing into compassion for his downtrodden people. As this begins to happen, he realizes that the Dark Prince, who claims to be part of him, is in fact a Sand monster, who is vying for control of the Prince and his kingdom. A particularly heroic and selfless deed proves a turning point in his mission, as his heroism inspires a new hope in the populace. With their spirits lifted by the knowledge that their Prince is fighting to save them from the Vizier, they rise up in defiance of his army, and provide just enough of a diversion for the Prince and Farah to get through the horde of Sand warriors guarding the palace.

Princess FarahAs they approach the throne room, however, they are ambushed by the Vizier. He captures Farah and sends the Prince plummeting deep into a dry well, who survives only by transforming into the Dark Prince. As he goes further into the well, the Dark Prince's voice grows stronger and more hostile, fuelled by the lack of water and the Prince's desperation. The Prince eventually comes across a dark room to find his father, King Sharaman, lifeless on the ground. Overcome with grief and taunted by the Dark Prince, the Prince finally recognizes his own immaturity underlying his constant efforts to undo his mistakes. He resolves never to walk down that path again, and to accept the consequences of his actions. With this resolution, he silences the Dark Prince and reverts to his natural form - without water. Taking up his father's sword he makes his way up the tower to complete his mission.

Using the Dagger of Time and his father's sword, the Prince is able to defeat the Vizier and free Farah. With the Vizier's death, his army vanishes and Kaileena's soul is freed from his grotesque form. She thanks the Prince by cleansing him of his corruption and removing the Daggertail, before leaving the world for another more suited to her presence, taking the Dagger of Time with her. However, as the Prince leans down to reach for his father's crown, he is confronted by the form of a dark warrior, as prophesied at the end of Warrior Within. Before the Prince's eyes, the dark warrior metamorphoses into the Dark Prince, who swings his Daggertail and draws the Prince into the mental realm where the two battle for control. With some help from the voice of Farah, the Prince realizes that battling his inner demon only serves to feed it, and will trap him forever within its realm. In the end he turns away and follows the voice of Farah up an ascending staircase leading to a bright cleansing light. Starved of anger, greed, and pride, the Dark Prince is finally defeated. The Prince awakens back in the real world to Farah's warm embrace.

Veterans of The Sands of Time are then treated to a tribute and reference to the first game in the trilogy. As they look out over Babylon, Farah asks the Prince how he really knew her name. He then begins to tell her the story of the first game, using the same monologue as the introduction and ending of that game, bringing the trilogy full circle: "Most people think time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I really am and why I say this. Come, and I will tell you a tale like none you have ever heard...."

Powers/Abilities/Weapons:

Regular Prince:
The Prince in his regular form is a tough character, he's quick, fast, and is extremely agile, and even deadlier with his mighty dagger skills. He also has his famous time-manipulating powers also:
Rewind:This is the power that Persian Ninja will be relying on for stealth kills and general movement around the world. Reverse time basically lets you rewind up to about 10 seconds from your current state to a state of things previous. This means objects get reformed, life is regained, Persian Ninja flies back upwards (or downwards), enemies are revived, etc. Quite a unique power not seen in any other videogame out there! However, this power is limited by the duration of the power meter (the red bar on the HUD) that immediately starts draining upon Persian Ninja's death or when the ability of Reverse Time is used constantly.

For the most part, Reverse Time is best used for the ever unpopular stealth kills. If Persian Ninja misses an opportunity to strike an enemy, reverse time just enough to try it again. Note for some stealth kills, reversing time too much will unmake some of the previously successful hits, so use judgement when using this awesome power. Unless you are given to misjudging leaps and such, your sands of time are better used for reversing badly timed stealth kills instead of on falls and stuff you can avoid. This power also comes in handy against bosses or during chariot races, so when you think you can get away with reversing time, do it

Eye of the Storm:This power is useful in open (non-stealth) combat and in moving around the world. Basically, time slows to a crawl while Persian Ninja moves at normal speed. This allows you to access fast shutting doors and get by traps that are too fast to bypass in normal time. Slow time is available only by the third sand portal, so expect puzzles to increase in difficulty there. The problem is this power and reverse time both use one sand tank. When trying to bypass a trap, make sure to do it well with Slow Time the first time since if Persian Ninja falls off, reversing time costs another sand tank and cancels slow time. This means to successfully pass a slow-time trap with one failure requires three sand tanks. Dying and retrying may be a better choice!

Sand Wind:This move is similar to the one in Warrior Within, and is almost as useless, since Persian Ninja often can slow time and simply throw enemies off into pits instead of relying on the this power. It knocks down enemies around Persian Ninja, but does not affect bosses. Once enemies are down, Persian Ninja can strike for more damage using the down strike. Instead, save the sand for slow time and toss enemies into the drink. However, this power may be of some use against the sand-sucking dogs -- if you knock them down, they cannot devour sand, and the dogs being prone lets Persian Ninja kill them as they struggle to right themselves. This power costs two sand tanks.

Powers/Abilities/Weapons cont...

Sand Storm:This move is similar to the one in Warrior Within, and is almost as useless as the weaker power above. It not only knocks down enemies around Persian Ninja, but kills them instantly (does not affect bosses). Since the consumption of this power is three sand tanks, you may only want to use it in the most dire circumstances. Also note that once the sands are drained, the power still needs a little lead time to unleash. Being knocked down will have the sands expended for nothing. It may only be useful in places where sand is plentiful (i.e., attacking a sand portal without stealth) or if enemies are too many.

The Dark Prince is a badass one also, just as fast and agile as Prince, but with a deadly daggertail that is effective for long range and for many enemies crowding around him. He also has Reg. Princes time powers also.

Can I just say that I love the Prince, and Sands of Time is one of my favorite games ever?

I'm playing Two Thrones right now and the interaction between the Prince and the Dark Prince is just downright funny, the way they always bicker and stuff.

Some of it consists of bland rubbish like: “You… will… be… removed!”, but some lines do show a great sense of humour from the Dahaka. Particularly this line on the Prince’s agile speed: “You are quick, mortal. QUICK TO DIE!” laughing out loud

Thanks for this thread. I love the Prince. One of my most favourite game characters alongside Link. Over on GameFAQs one chap started an indepth thread about the Free Form Fighting System in Warrior Within and it still goes strong!
