There are some things you absolutely should not do. One of those things is that if you're some hotshot fighter, don't claim that Death can kick your ass.

Just ask our buddy Chakan.

A talented fighter and swordsman, he has gotten so used to winning that he claimed that not even Death could match him in skill. The Reaper of Souls took offense to that and challenges Chakan to a match: if Death wins, then he takes Chakan's soul. If Chakan wins, then Death grants him eternal life.

After a fierce battle which lasted for days, Chakan won...and Death gave Chakan eternal life.

Right now, Chakan wished that he hasn't inserted his foot into his mouth. Everyone knows that you can't cheat Death. For nearly 1,000 years, Death has used Chakan to exterminate the realms of supernatural evils.

Taken from the game intro:

It has been so long...So very long...

I have hunted evil for no less then a thousand years. Yet, I remember well how this pain started... as though it were just yesterday...

When my blood was warm, I was a great warrior. Neither man nor beast could best me in mortal combat. Then, in my arrogance, I said one day even Death himself will bow before my swords...

He smiled and said from a man of death from death himself, a wager. If you win, eternal life is yours. If I win, you soul is mine to do with as I wish. Foolishly I accepted...

With sword and spell, we clashed toe to toe. The world trembled at our unleashed powers. I attacked with such fury and might, that even death himself was taken aback, and then, incredibly, felled.

I toppled the master and he granted my reward. I am cursed to live until all supernatural evil is destroyed. I hunt...and fight...and kill, until the end of my curse.

Only then will I be able to seek solitude and forever rest.

Game Ending:

It is quiet...All too much time has passed since my first meeting with Death...and I am weary.

I have rid the elemental and terrestrial plains of evil and await my reward. It would seem all darkness has been destroyed...Only now may I seek my rest eternal.
